We had a lot of people speculating about things for the game that were not in the update.

Speculation is cool.
I've done it many times.

People also went beyond that and thought their theories were fact.

Do you feel stupid or do you feel lead on?

Personally I think a tree without fruit is no reason to think there was new fruit coming.
It was just a tree after all.

But I want to hear people's opinions

For me, the speculation I was most inclined to believe was based on the datamine and one of the Nintendo leakers. Amazingly, most of it was accurate, so it actually felt kind of validating to have followed this speculation and then see it realized. This approach may not always work in the future, but I felt like it paid of this time.

I thought we would be able to enlarge our three small rooms in our homes for two reasons. The update showed New decorating features that we could learn and do in our own houses. Unfortunately, that didn't include enlarging rooms. The other reason was Tom was going to let us enlarge our closet space. I figured it would be like it was when we enlarged or added a room, we would get more closet space. Also, there are 3 upgrades, so I assumed it would be the three smaller rooms.

I love this update, but that disappointed me.

To be completely honest I avoided most of the speculation. It's not really fun for me to discuss things that could be in an update but aren't confirmed so I just don't partake. I understand why other people think it's fun though! I just prefer to discuss things that are confirmed. I'm that way about pretty much every game I play though.

It's hard for me to feel led on because the update had everything I personally wanted. Then again I tried to tune out a lot of the more unrealistic speculation discussions lol

I feel the trailer showed a lot of what we were to expect... anything else was uncertain. I don't feel led on about anything and tried to keep expectations realistic.

The two things I had doubts about were reusable plots in the DLC and whether we would be able to customize villager house exteriors on our island. I'm glad both turned out to be yes, but it could have gone either way.

Not at all.

When the trailer came out I took everything I saw at face value and reminded myself we were only being shown a fraction of what was going to be included in the update and DLC. Whilst it was fun to read everyone else’s speculations and theories I never let myself get completely sucked in knowing I was potentially setting myself up for disappointment once the update and DLC was released.

i think the only speculation i ever personally had was the eventual inclusion of brewster + gyroids and that's entirely because they were spotted by dataminers. and obviously that ended up happening, so no disappointment there. i honestly have no idea what anyone else speculated about.

from the update trailer, i assumed with the happy home paradise DLC you'd eventually be able to change the size of rooms in you and your villagers' houses. you can't, but that's not a huge disappointment. when it comes to remodeling my villagers' houses i like the challenge of having a smaller space to work with. it's like an interior design puzzle!

Honestly, I hated watching videos or reading about speculations of what might have been in the update. I didn't want to believe any of it and then be disappointed. So I kinda tried to avoid it at all costs. I also feel like people got very heated and argued about it a lot and I don't like that either.

So the only update video I watched was the official trailer from Nintendo, and I was more than happy with everything they showed. So I don't feel led on. Too me the update was amazing and it's really re-ignited my love for the game.

I've been keeping track of the datamine so I've pretty much based my expectations on those. Although there's a few (critical) misses, like having a gyroid section at the museum, museum gift shop, and a Nook's Cranny upgrade.

Outside of that, I really expected that all the missing furniture would return. Really disappointed that a lot of items were still left out. And I'm still particularly bitter about the house plants.

But regardless, I still love the new update and I didn't see HHP coming. I only knew Lottie would be in the game someway or another.

I've always been of the mind that what's in the trailer is what we get so I've never been disappointed on that front. I feel like Nintendo was pretty consistent with NH update trailers containing 90% of what was going to be added with a few loose items thrown in that didn't get shown. I found it slightly strange even after that being the case for 2-ish years people still speculated so much on X or Y being added secretly. (perfect fruits, new fruits, second islands etc.)

That said speculation is ultimately harmless and I see no problem with people going for it. I quite liked the little contest someone on here held where they wanted people to guess what features would be in specific updates and then awarded whoever got the closest.

Datamines are a separate beast for me - I find them highly interesting however more so from the perspective of seeing what could've been and what the devs have been up to. I never took datamined features as fact either, more so a possibility than anything.

I avoided a lot of the speculation, so when I saw the direct I felt like it offered even more than what I was hoping for, so I was really happy with it - I didn’t feel let down at all because I went in with the expectation we were getting Brewster and not much else haha

i wasnt expecting much so no real let down for me outside of the absence of a multiplayer island

Well before the update was announced I stopped having any expectations. When nintendo put out whoopie cushions and prom clothes that told me they were done. And truthfully I never cared about Brewster or gyroids. Once you get all the items brewster is pointless and although the new gyroids are cute I could still do without them. I was shocked by the amount of content in the update given the huge lack of any for so long but the announcement that it was to be the last made it make sense. I'm enjoying the update and having a lot of fun and thats what matters. I do wish we had unbreakable tools and a nooks cranny upgrade and shortened dialog for the npcs though.

I was honestly expecting nothing special. Only Brewster and the return of gyroids. HHP and the content we received blew my mind. I was black pilled on NH for most of the year. I'm very satisfied with the content we got and it'll keep me occupied for a long time.

I don't feel lead on by Nintendo, but I felt led on by speculators. I'm not disappointed by the update, though obviously we all have our wish lists and items that didn't make it into the final product, but the channel SwitchForce on YouTube for example, made videos everyday about what we could expect from the update. These included things like fruit, and items being placeable in water, and far more features and NPCs at Harv's Island than what Nintendo revealed in the trailer. He was clearly trying to get views to his channel by blowing every small thing out of proportion. So to content creators, I feel...not fooled, because I saw through them, but led on, yeah.

I don't feel lead on by Nintendo, but I felt led on by speculators.

this is a big mood

I probably added to that for others tho because I really hoped a Brewster's building outside would be an option -
still bummed about it buT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CAFE HOW IT IS and honestly its kinda nostalgic it being in the museum as a little hint of the older ACs. even if I wanted it separate, outside like NL so i could decorate the outside

some youtuber i watched also showed tortimer having a ship and admittedly i never properly looked into it but i do feel lead on by them bc i thought it was gonna become a real part of the game this update
