Respect Other Members

I can't believe it but I have become annoyed enough today to post this. Looking around at a bunch of threads today I have seen many instances of bullying, plain and simple trolling, or hazing, whatever you want to call it.

I am fed up with it. It is annoying, it causes people to fell left out, scares people away from our forums which can be awesome at its best, and apparently a pit comparable to /b/ at its worst.

I want to get some feedback though. How many people here have felt and or seen this sort of thing going on here? Who has chosen to do something about it? While we are at it it, does anyone actually think it is funny?

"Oh but you are a mod, you should do something about it!" I cannot be omnipotent, not unlike the teacher who can't stop bullying entirely. It takes more than a small number of observers to keep things nice anywhere. It takes people helping each other.

So please if you see someone getting picked on or made fun of for little or no reason, please don't make things worse, in fact try to defend them, make things better. You were all newbs at some point in time. Even I was, but I was before you were and I assure you I have seen each of you as a newb at some point or another. you might have changed your name, you might have even started a whole new account, but you were a newb at some point in time. Please remember what it feels like to be one, and treat them with the same respect you would anyone else, because they are still a person.

Tip for anyone annoyed by others, ignore their posts. Act like they don't exist. If they don't get an emotional response from you it isn't fun to troll. This doesn't work over night but over time it does. Patience is a virtue.

There are plenty of people who deserve warns and didn't get them, and some who got them who didn't necessarily deserve it. Hmm sounds kinda like something Bilbo Baggins said...

I suppose it is a little funny, but not in the way it's intended to be. More like people just look like they're trying to be internet badasses. xD SO HARDCORE.

But I don't like when people are mean to other people, it's true. :L Especially newcomers. Unfortunately, an argument usually starts up and things usually escalate from there, you know? It's like, haters goin' hate and be silly. Ignoring really helps, though @_____@

I have to agree, the flaming most of the time is uneeded or just plain stupid. They just do it to seem cool and blend in when they actually have no idea what they're saving so then when someone replies to them, they have nothing smart or logical to say. I've been down that road with Nook and KK Slider who are now my friends.

It's a little rude when newbies get picked on just because they're newer or something like that, i try to intervene when i can. Although some people are just a little too annoying that i just don't.

I agree Sporge27, I've had quite a lot of trouble with this site and "Certain people" .
But I've made friends with most of the people that used to annoy me and that's good.
I'm happy to be friends with them now.

People are allowed their opinion, obviously, but some people push it over the top and that's where the problems stem and I'm happy for this topic!

I think they're talking about the people who pick on others, not the ones who pick on them.

I dunno. Usually I'm not one to pick on, my humor is usually sarcastic so it can be taken as offensive, but it's not meant to be an insult. That's just my sense of humor. Disrespect has been a problem here for as long as I've been here, and longer I'm sure. Some people here think if they're an ass, they're cool on the internet forever, mommy! But no.

You are part of the problem. The site is for a game rated E for everyone. Of course we are going to attract some of the younger crowd. For many this could even be their first time on the internet.

I suggest you change your attitude or LEAVE. There is no place in this forum for someone who chooses to elevate himself on the misery of others. It might be easy for you to say man up, but not everyone is stable, and I would hate to be involved in one of those instances. I certainly hope you don't act like this IRL, otherwise enjoy your parents basement the rest of your life.

To others on this page, yeah if someone is really getting on your nerves they may deserve to be knocked down a peg. But don't do it continuously, and don't do it if they aren't even addressing you directly.

If you see a thread already trashed though, don't add insult to injury. (or insult to insult as the case is more likely to be.)

But, I have also noticed it. I didn't think like "Oooooohh, they are going to get a warning!" or anything. I was just like "kay. that happened." but it is a little annoying..
