Runies adoptables site

I have an idea for an adoptables site based on a mixture of japanese folklore and ancient runes. It will be called Runies. Below is the mascot of the site along with the site banner. This Runie represents Life, once it's all finalized the character will be green with yellow mixed in and the gradient bar on its forehead will fade from black to grey. Im just wondering if any of you have any ideas or criticisms :3 Harsh critiques are 100% welcome in fact, bring them, I love them.

The artwork looks really nice and it's a good concept. c:

My only criticism is that the mascot looks very generic? It kind of looks exactly the same as the tree spirits from Princess Mononoke:

What's Princess Mononoke? Is that an anime? It looks super cute, Im gonna watch it xD Anyway, I hadn't realized. I just sketched some random shapes and was like "Hey that kinda looks creepy in a cute kinda way, I'll make it a character." Once it's colored it'll probably look more unique :3

Yes it's a Studio Ghibli film!! and yes it will definitely look more unique w/ colour.
