Technically, they aren't lying when it says for use with New Horizons. They do work with the game to give you special posters. I don't imagine they would cut out those posters and replace them with the villager posters if we did get the villagers.

Ideally, this would be a sign that we might get the amiibo characters back, but I'm not counting on it. I personally don't want to get myself hyped up only for it not to happen. I would love for it to happen, but it probably won't.

Oh definitely not! They could easily get away with it, so long as they aren't making false promises about amiibo characters. I'm just saying that it would be one of those instances where something really fantastic COULD happen, but Nintendo just says "here's some pixelated pieces of paper to put on your wall, knock yourself out kiddo."

I totally agree! I totally want them to go "surprise!" and bring them back. But after the reception of the last update, I don't want people getting really hyped and then being crushed if it doesn't happen.

This actually sounds like a really good idea, if they did that they could also bring back old villagers like they also did in NL with RV amiibo cards

Sadly I don't think they will, the dock feels like it's going to have something to do with Kapp'n in the future; they COULD, however, bring back RVs as an addition to Harv's island

At this point I’m just happy to be in with a chance of getting my hands on the cards themselves as a collector’s item, rather than using them in game for more than just posters as I think it’s unlikely we’ll get anything more than that.

I am pleasantly surprised by the announcement video today!

No news on where the cards will be available in the UK or Europe yet but this is the sort of content we hoped for!

I wonder if the update on March 18th will have anything else announced for it...
