Sanrio Collaboration Pack announced for March

I'm no lawyer but I've been wondering. Wouldn't Nintendo technically have to reissue their contract with Sanrio to be able to put these cards out in the market? And if that is the case, wouldn't that mean there would be a reason as to do so? What I mean is, you don't sign another contract if you don't plan to do anything with it, that would be wasting money on cards that are old by now and can only unlock posters as of now, if they are renewing this contract it is because they are joining to do something new together right? The cards coming out on March makes me think the update might want to tackle their collaborations in this one.

i bought the full sanrio set in 2016 for ~$40. i played myself.....

ANYWAY i'm glad to see that it'll be sold in the US. i know many people have been trying to get their hands on these for awhile!

I'm hoping to get a pack when they drop.

Even if they don't bring the furniture set back to NH (which if I remember correctly a recent datamine did find the sanrio furniture in the code so it's possible someday), I'd like them for my collection. Plus I have a friend that plays New Leaf, would love to give her access to these cute sets.

I actively dislike the Sanrio villager designs, but I hope for everyone else’s sake that they’re added into the game, and I’m all for Nintendo making fan-favorite content a little more accessible instead of costing $150 on eBay. And if the Sanrio villagers are added, maybe (big, unrealistic dream) they would also add more new, non-collab villagers someday?

If it's just the posters, well, I already got those from someone here on tbt. I think they will add at least something else. Maybe some Sanrio plushies, like the those you get from Mom. It would be cool to collect those.

Like, they could add an UFO Catcher and the plushies, so even if you weren't able to really play the ufo catcher, you could at least display the plushies as if you had gotten them on the machine haha

This is great news as I’ve never managed to get my hands on this set of cards. I wonder if they will have any use for some future ACNH features, though.

while i never really bothered with amiibo cards in new leaf, this is honestly super exciting! definitely might actually try to get my hands on a pack this time; if the villagers are returning in-game, i really hope their furniture sets return, too, as those were adorable and i miss them a lot. ;v;

I bought the set at it's release for NL and was waiting to get another use out of them. I know from PC that Nintendo and Sanrio have continued to collaborate even after Welcome Amiibo. Back in March when I was more naive I actually expected them to release a second set with six different Sanrio characters, as there's still quite a few popular ones left (Kuromi, Gudetama, Aggretsuko… I personally want Tuxedosam and Pochacco), and introduce them all to NH together. Now that the bar is clipping into the floor I'd take just getting the old ones. Just anything is fine at this point.
Though even if the re-release isn't meant for just the posters - which is something they'd do LOL -, I can't see them putting the furniture and clothing in already. There's no feature currently in the game that allows you to obtain another villagers furniture, no flea markets, no camper, and having Sanrio stuff just show up at Nook's and Able's after you scanned the Amiibo in would make little sense. It might be just the villagers.

I sure hope they do, I never bought them from New Leaf (I'm from Spain and I never saw them) but I'd definitely try to buy them now exclusively to get the adorable furniture sets. If it's just the villagers, I'm probably not gonna buy them. I don't really care much for them

Definitely picking these up (Marty is the only one I really want BUT STILL)! I'm praying that it will be the actual villagers and not just posters. After all, that would be a slap in the face for them to put "For use with: New Horizons" and then only have them give you a poster. This is what updates are for, Nintendo.

Technically, they aren't lying when it says for use with New Horizons. They do work with the game to give you special posters. I don't imagine they would cut out those posters and replace them with the villager posters if we did get the villagers.

Ideally, this would be a sign that we might get the amiibo characters back, but I'm not counting on it. I personally don't want to get myself hyped up only for it not to happen. I would love for it to happen, but it probably won't.

I know! I'm no lawyer either, but for them to reissue them must mean that they got their contract renewed. It's suspicious if they renew it to only do another printing of cards.

I have to agree with the posts I'm reading here… If they bring back the villagers (especially Étoile), I'll love this. Otherwise, I'll pass.

That won't matter too much to me unless they bring back Peach's Parasol! Bring that cute umbrella back, Nintendo.

Yes. The My Melody poster is the poster you can get right now by scanning the amiibo in Harvey's cabin. Unless they change it, that is all these will do unless you also have and play New Leaf.

I was excited for this, but if it turns out these will only give you the posters and no furniture or villager, I'll be very disappointed :')
