In case you don't know, school shootings are becoming horrifyingly common in America...Where I live. I don't want to go to school. I don't know what day is my last. I don't know if I'll die before graduating. I don't know if I'll develop severe trauma when I step through those doors. I don't know if kids in my school will take it seriously if it happens.
I don't know if I'll live when I walk through those doors.
I don't know if I'll see Mom again when I walk through those doors.
I don't know if I'll go home when I walk through those doors.
I don't know anything. When I walk through those doors.
I don't know if I'll walk back through those doors.

bad things happen everywhere you can’t live in constant fear. unless change is made we’re just going to have to deal with it

youll be fine

I hope so <:')

thats kind of what they want, to make people tremble in constant fear
why let them win?

If I'm "giving them what they want", then I'll do my best to stay strong and not be consumed by fear!

*if u live in usa* blame the goverment for selling guns like candies.

youill be fine , dont worry <3.

Thank you <3
We could also blame certain people buying them like they're candy :/

I'm trying to stay strong! QvQ
It's a depressing reality that we'll just have to deal with it u.u
(Now...Why did I reply to these in a weird order? I dunno)

i walk past a hospital prison for criminals who are deemed insane every day of my life. my school is beside the outer wall of it. my house is beside the lowest wall. sure, there's a chance someone could break out and kill me, but there's no point in living in fear of something that is unlikely to actually happen.

That's true :) I need people to give me these bursts of reality so I can help myself ^_^
Thank you. I needed to hear something like that <3

I don't think we should respond with "you'll be fine". Yes, dangers are everywhere but I shouldn't be terrified of going to school on a daily basis. I go their to get an education not to get a bullet stuck in my head. That being said, our government should do something about how people are getting guns and improve school security instead of removing everything that the last president has accomplished because you don't like him. I can't source this but my liberal media 1 teacher said there has be around 29 MASS shootings shootings just this year alone. We shouldn't have any shootings to be honest.

We really shouldn't. It's depressing and horrifying how the government isn't doing almost anything to help what is our future generation. Rather than say "**** you" to Obama's old acts as President, freaking save lives!!!
My brother said that this all started when they made all these laws on gun control.
AND 29 MASS SHOOTINGS!!!???!?! HOLY CRAP! They NEED to do something! I don't care about the second damn amendment! People are using that as a reason to back up why they have a "right" to murder! @^@ I need ice cream...

I think you are right to be afraid.
It's normal, and we do live in dangerous times.

I'm not going to say "You'll be fine", because I don't, and CAN'T know that.

I would look into home schooling if your fear gets the better of you.

You only have one life.
Protect it at all cost(s).

im really sorry you feel like this, keldi. it must scare you a lot with all these shootings. i hope the goverment does something to help prevent shootings from happening. in the meanwhile, stay strong. i pray it won't come to you and i don't think its a high chance you'll get a shooting anyway.

but i am upset about the goverment not doing something. make guns harder to get, bring medical help immediately when it happens, put some sort of security on the schools...

im not saying "youll be fine" to be nice, its just how i feel personally about this whole mass shooting situation. i made it through high school without dying, and so have many others. im in college now and my university had a shooting and there were swat cops all around my dorm, helicopters searching around, etc. back in october and the thought that i might die in a mass shooting situation still just never even crosses my mind. i dont think the threat of a school shooting ITSELF (ur mental health would make it worth it) is worth being homeschooled over, but to each their own. we cant do anything about it and we need an education. its best not to worry about it because both of us cant do anything and we're more or less powerless. i dont see congress making any changes before im graduated so it's like, idk im just gonna live because it is what it is. i understand u cant just "not worry" about it because of anxiety, i just hope i can alleviate some of ur paranoia. because its probably not healthy to live in a constant state of fear over this

however i have to say that i went to very safe private schools for most of my life so my situation is probably different. my university is a big public school tho

Semi-off topic- Stop blaming the guns. Guns don't kill people, they kill people, with guns. Start working on helping the people who are causing these disasters.

I can be scared to go to work as a shooting has happened before in another franchise of where I work. Unfortunately I need money so I have to go to work. And although you are scared, you need to get your education... As cliche as that sounds, it's true! Nothing we can do about it until lawmakers do something about it.

I guess the best compromise is to be nice to everyone! So they feel loved and don't hate you or anyone else.

I’m sorry that you feel that way. But I didn’t realize that shootings happened so often that it’s already invoking fear in some people.

Despite an increase in public shootings like that, they are still rare compared to many other crimes. Drunk driving, robberies, and single murders are more common than public shootings. The news continues to focus on the negative stuff, and only for attention. All I have to say is don’t worry about this. You’ll never know when it will happen. All I know is that it’s not as common as the news say.

i'm a little uneasy going to college lately for the same reason. the thing is i don't think it's a good idea to live in constant fear like others have said. it's good to be cautious and aware of what's going on but don't let the fear consume you.

Instead of allowing such fear to be a hurdle, let it flourish into your strength and resolve to truly be grateful and live like each day was your last. Always tell your family you love them, always do right even when it goes unseen, leave no rock unturned or there will be regrets when it's too late to recover.

I disagree completely with this statement.

First of all, who do you think is going to help the people who are using machine guns to commit mass murders? the Republicans? they consistently cut funding to programs and institutions that provide mental health services to the public.

secondly, machine guns are specifically designed and made for one thing-- killing many people in a short amount of time. they are dangerous products that do more harm than good in our society, that serve no legitimate purpose in our country, and that should not be in the marketplace.

to the OP tho i would say, theres alwaye a risk in this world of bad things happening. how many nuclear missiles are pointed right now at every developed nation? you have to put it all out of your mind if one is to function and get on with life, and accept that when its our time its our time, none of us are immortal anyhow right?
