So after some testing, I'm pretty sure they nerfed money trees...

Everyone in my house seemed in agreement that the amount you get from money trees was knocked down after the patch last night. So my boyfriend and I did some testing on a second profile, using some time travelling. Before the 1.1.1 patch, we planted 4 money trees with 30k buried in each. This was for an initial test of value of returns. After the patch, noticing a change in lack of returns from the trees, we planted 4 more. Again, 30k buried in each. The trees were all marked with designs on the ground as to which were before and after the patch.

We TT'd ahead, and harvested the trees. The 4 from before the patch gave 90k total each. The 4 from after the patch gave 30k total each.

Now I know people are going to run in here with pitchforks to say it's because we time travelled. But ALL of this was done with time travelling. And the 4 from before the patch gave a 3x bell multiplier. I really think they stealth nerfed the money trees along with the dupe fix... Not the most expansive test, but seriously that's a little bit much to be a coincidence...

I've read somewhere that even before the latest update, some people who planted 30k and expecting 90k, still got 3 bags of 10k each.

Yes, me! :) I planted 30k several times, only once I got 90k back. The other times there were just three bags each with 10k...

I'm here catching 38 tarantulas per visit to the random Islands, and Nintendo is worried about people getting a 30k money tree every 3 days.

I planned 30k my first day playing and got 10k each bag... this was like this in previous games as well. They always had a cap.

You can't really blame people for preferring to utilize features intentionally designed to gradually make bells over making tons of bells through exploiting the game.

from what ive read, the maximum amount of bells you can bury and profit with no loss is 10k bells, making a 20k bell profit. I never really played with money trees before so ive had no experience or attachment, but honestly i think thats a pretty healthy number, considering how i personally save/deal with my bells :O ive heard some people have been complaining that it's "too easy" to make money in this game anyway, so maybe it's for the best that there's a cap. not sure how you managed to get 90k on a tree though

I wasn't blaming people. I was laughing Nintendo for nerfing things that aren't even good for bell making.

Fishing isn't exploiting, and I can make about 60,000-200,000 an hour doing it.
