So I did it! Username change

After saving TBT, I finally change my username, and I'm posting about it because it was a really huge change, Teddy is not who I was or who I am, it was a username I created to pretend to be someone, not like to catfish, but more to hide behind it, so I was not feeling comfortable using it any more.

Long story short, Teddy comes from a show called 8th&Ocean, and I stick too it since I was like 12, almost 15 years ago, and I grew attached to the idea of using it for everything, since is a pretty come username, I added the 345 to be "original" instead of 123, but I regress, TBT was the last place where I had that username, and today I'm letting go of the past, after coming back here after a 4 year hiatus, I realized that being just me has bringing so much joy and so many new friends, that I don't need to be Teddy, so I'm letting him go, still thankful, because I was able to find myself, but also free.

You might see it as something simple, but to me it was a huge change, so now I'm curious, is your username meaningful to you in some way, does it have a backstory?

For me Ace Marvel comes from the idea that an ace is someone that is a pro at something, and marvel from being filled with wonder, so now I'm being a pro at being me, which in turn is marvelous. Also it has a nice ring to it and is basically unused at all forums or games,

EDIT: If you decide to use a character as your username, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, for me it was the reasoning behind it that I wasn't able to relate anymore.

SECOND EDIT: I shared this to let people know I change my username, and also to let people that are struggling with this issue that it's okay to change your username, and that they are not the only ones.

Enjoy your new username! My username is just my character's name in New Leaf, not much story to it other than Ng is my surname.

i definitely relate, though - i hid behind different names for years as i just wasn’t comfortable with myself at all - while i’ve had a fair amount of usernames on here and they all were dedicated to things i loved/still love (crybby for melanie martinez, harlequin for harley quinn, etc), none of my usernames ever felt like me

my username is special to me because for the first time, i’m going by the name that i’ve given myself and feel comfortable with. while xara may not be my birth name, accepting it as my identity has brought me a step closer to feeling content with myself and that’s all that matters in the end ;u;

I’m glad you’ve found a username you enjoy more now! My usernames since joining the site have been AnimalCrossingExpert(ACE), Riley, Ryu, Space Dandy, DoubleR, Spike Spiegel, xRileyx, Shinichi, and now this one. I guess that makes this my ninth username now. Kind of ironic considering Izuku Midoriya is the ninth holder of One For All in the show Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia (that wasn’t planned at all, I swear. ). It took me a really long time to find a username I truly love, but I really do love this one now and don’t plan on changing it ever again. I was actually considering changing it just in the past week, but realized that it would be too much of a hassle and that this fits me the best out of any username I’ve had.

TL;DR It takes a tremendous amount of patience to stick with a username unless you really love it, and I’m glad you found one you truly love now.

I think I've changed my username twice on here. When I first joined I used a nickname, then after a couple years when I was more active I changed it to happinessdelight because it was a quote(?)/saying from my favorite artist (he also had it handwritten as his profile picture on ig for quite a while). I thought it was cute and uplifting in a way and kind of expressive of how I was feeling about life for the most part. I'd sometimes get called "happiness" or "happy" and I liked feeling the positivity

I changed it again after a couple years to my current one when I stopped being active for a while. I think I wanted somewhat of a fresher start and something a little less happy haha. It's still based on the same person, but it's his composer/lyricist name that he really takes pride in, and I love it a lot too (and I'm v proud of him).

I was ready to change it back as soon as the shop was ready from the update but by then I'd gotten too attached to this one so I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with this!

There’s no meaning behind my username, I just thought of a random word and used that... I was 13-14 when I made this account lool. I can’t remember why, but i think it’s because young me knew I’ll grow up to be an old cat lady.

There’s not really any meaning behind any of my usernames. They’re different on every website, I just chose whatever word I think of at that moment. I do tend to use Evie/Evelyn/Eve as fake names because I really liked that name at one point.

Coincidentally, I'm planning on changing my username soon. "jirachi100" is one I came up with on another website back in 2008. For a while, I used it everywhere, but now I use different names when joining websites.
Yes, Jirachi is still my favorite Pokemon, and also, I have gotten used to being called that, but I don't think I want that to be my name anymore, especially not with a random number at the end. Lately, I've decided I want to be called Ribbon (But that name on here is taken, so oh well) and I've already changed my Switch name to that. It's a weird story, but I got attached to that name while playing New Leaf.
The new username I'm planning I haven't really used before, so I guess that'll be interesting.

I’ve gone through a similar thought process for awhile! Feferily is on a homestuck character Feferi whose... just me to be honest, and I added the ILY to show... well, I’m happy and excited to meet people! But I’ve also tried being better at being me online and it’s been hard thanks to various mental issues and body issues. I’ve also had the username RemytheRaptor which I liked but now I just want a cute themed username with Remy or Remiel and something that makes it special! It’s hard!

I also broke up with any partners last year (a 7 year and 4 year relationship.) and I found homestuck and all this stuff because of them and so.. keeping feferily almost feels like I can’t let go? And I suppose it would be letting go of the Me I thought of myself as a year ago.. so yes! Any suggestions for a new name appreciated <3

Vrisnem (Вриснем) means scream in several eastern European languages. It is also a portmanteau of a pen name I write under. I had been using this name online since 2014, but only changed my username to it on TBT in 2019.

The name I had used prior made me extremely uncomfortable (and had done for several years) whenever anyone referred to me by it. It also bothers me that some people on here still insist on calling me by it.

This is awesome to hear, though and I like to hear people's backstories Mine is just pretty random and I wanted a change at one point since my former made me a bit awk(tl;dr it used to be an inside joke with my ex/fwb and some people here so yeah lol). Might go back to that one or some of my 5-6 earlier ones though cause ya i liked em better. Never been a fan of too long names personally, (since my irl name is also long and people can never pronounce it correctly which makes me.. cringe. Long ones def look good on other though
