Update: Wendy tried it again, this time a bullet was dodged as it wasn't a villager I intend to have stay. It wasn't even a thought bubble, but rather a ping as though she was giving me eggs for Easter. It's a shame there isn't an evict villager feature, even if it's just once every few months.

Is there anyway to make sure he doesn't wear it? I'm absolutely petrified LOL.
The best option is to never-ever do deliveries sadly. I've had to kick out many of my villagers and reinvite new copies just to fix their clothing

I always say yes when I'm asking to deliver a gift, even though I'm always afraid of the gift haha lately Flo sent 2 gifts to Diana but it was 2 nice pink dresses which fit Diana perfectly. Tbh I don't care if my villager are not original, I like having "customized" villagers, but I agree that some outfits are definitely awful!

I've started opening gifts before I deliver them to see if it's something atrocious or not. If it passes the test, I rewrap it and deliver. If not, it gets sold.
Case in point, Sally asking me last night to deliver an apology gift to Lionel. Purple coverall with sleeves.

If you rewrap the gift, is it considered as a gift from the villager or from you? Because I've always thought that if you open it then you don't have to deliver it anymore.
I gave Avery a sweater that he displayed in his house the next day. Since then he's never worn it, and I think he possibly doesn't have it in his house anymore. I notice when the animals display a piece of clothing, they don't wear it as part of their wardrobe they'll switch out.
Same thing with Judy, this happened twice. I gave her a piece of clothing, she tried it on, but then the next day she displayed it in her house and I've maybe, MAYBE seen her wear it ONCE. I think it's cause I gave her another piece of clothing she put in her house, a Sanrio Melody dress, which again she tried on but the next day, it's displayed in her house. Ungrateful :/

Once you rewrap it, it says it's a present for that villager again, instead of the generic "gift", so I think everything is fine. I've never had anyone complain to me. And when I talk to the first villager again, they thank me for making the delivery.
I'm so going to do this, my villagers give UG-LEE stuff sometimes and I don't have the heart to tell them how ugly it is. Thou, I'll have to do this on my second island. It's too late for my first
