I usually just say the brand name, Fanta, Sprite, etc!
But, between the two words, I tend to use the word soda.

I just say Crush or Fanta, depending on the brand name. Sometimes I just say soda though.

where i'm from we call it soft drink, but i'll usually just say the brand name of whatever drink i'm talking about
