Out of inspiration...
Like even you have some zones you might like, there's a point you just don't know what to do next.

How do you take inspiration or how you just know what to do next? Sometimes i have ideas but when it comes to make them true it just don't work as i thought...

Oh yeah I feel burnt out all the time on designing areas of my island.
When I feel stumped, I like to look on instagram to see what other people have done to get some fresh ideas.

I also like to look though the list of items here https://villagerdb.com/items/furniture?game=nh and find ones that go well together and build an area based on that, for instance I'm about to build a Sanrio cafe area with the cinnamoroll items and the rainbow festivale item since they go pretty well together.

Yeah all the time! I really like to look at pinterest and make ACNH aesthetic boards to get a general vibe of how I want an area to turn out. Sometimes I even find new inspiration for an area/idea I hadn't thought of!
This is the same thing I do. I find so many interesting ideas on Pinterest. It has given me many ideas for even tiny little spaces on the island!

I also find that when I am bored on my island that I spend more time on TBT. It helps me think of ideas as well!

I’ve been going through this since the winter, maybe even before that. I have some areas that look finished except there aren’t items on the stalls. And then there are areas that I started but haven’t continued working on since I ran out of ideas and the current items in the game don’t inspire me or I’ve done all that I could with my ideas and them atm. I improvised and substituted as best I could but some ideas — that is very difficult to do.

I have found some spark in some tweets or pins that a friend posts on the server we chat on as well as twitter, but only to end up finding myself unable to fully do my idea because none of the current furniture works with it. I used to go to Harv’s studio daily trying to work with what we got, but I have hit a dead end for now. For me it is a waiting game, though my hopes for new furniture and content that I like are very low.

Yes I feel that way right now. I was doing pretty good with ideas until recently, I have been redoing my campsite on my second island for awhile now. It just does not come out right. So I’m taking a break from that part. Usually I move on to another part of my island and come back to it later. I get some inspiration from pinterest or just from looking around TBT. Sometimes from Twitter. Sometimes it just comes from a new piece of furniture or event.

I think that is definitely a normal way to feel. I have an idea and I try it out and most of the time it is so disappointing. If lucky there are some things I like and the I will look online or look for QR codes for things to make my idea look how I want. Things like swimming pools and ice rinks have been impossible for me to design without amazingly talented people who kindly share their talents.

There are so many ideas online, maybe visit a few dream addresses.

Good luck, have fun! I haven’t done anything for ages so will join you looking for inspiration 💜

I honestly haven't designed much of anything this year in this game. So I guess my inspiration is rock bottom lol. I really should just wipe the slate clean with some of the stuff I did and see if I can get inspired, but at the same time I am worried I'll just be left with even more stuff unfinished and then I won't feel like reverting what I did.

Heck I flattened the whole top side of my island and just decided to reference old pictures to redo it to the way it looked (or to the best of my knowledge)

I can relate. I do have ideas, the thing is I don’t know where to begin. I wish I didn’t flatten my island. Sometimes I turn on my game, look around my empty island and get so overwhelmed that I immediately turn off the game. The problem is that I’m a perfectionist. I recently tried to get over my slump and work on my entrance. I think I built and tore it down 6 times only to realise the first version was the best so I have to recreate it now. Mabye I should take a break from the game

Going to Pinterest or other sites to take inspiration don't sound like a bad idea at all.

I had never thought of taking this approach. This is a great idea!

Sounds like a lot of people are grappling with burnout right now. Pretty normal given that this game has been out for well over a year. Here’s a thought, maybe folks in this predicament could do a sort of trade. Like, person A re-works a delineated section of person B’s island and creates a section according to their take on the other person’s theme or whatever (makes sure that it fits in.). Uses their own materials and items. And person B does the same for person A. That actually might be kind of cool.

Oh, definitely. I recently finished my fair area (which took several days, some TTing back to February to get more Festivale stuff, several redesigns... it was a BIG undertaking) and I was like, "SWEET! I'm done! ...With that. Now what to do with the empty space in my forest? And how will I arrange my new dump?"

So, I might take a break from designing for a bit... or maybe I'll Google pictures, or maybe I'll look at other DAs. One thing that helped during the time I was designing my fair, though, that made it all come together was looking for custom designs online. I hadn't used most of my new design spaces, so I decided to look for cute paths and stuff. I managed to find a design that made the wooden path into a ledge and/or a staircase (someone on here was kind enough to help me!) and it just totally pulled it all together. While I was Googling for a stair pattern, I also got some cute inspiration to give it a more three dimensional look, which helped a lot. I've found that anytime you search for ACNH stuff, chances are you'll see A LOT of pictures of other people's islands... which can be frustrating to scroll through if you're in a hurry, but can also provide excellent inspiration if you let it. I also found a wood plank pathway that matches the wooden ramp and it's really helping to pull my camping area together!

Yeah I am feeling it yet again, despite me restarting my main island and owning a 2nd island I am feeling the burnout. So right now all I am doing is collecting Villager Photos and Posters. Thats the only thing that is keeping me going. I am not in the mood to terraform anymore.

Me and most my friends that also play the game are feeling the burnout, especially those who have played nearly every day since they got the game like me so I can see where you're coming from. Myself, most my inspiration comes from dream islands and looking at what works for other people, so I take screenshots for reference and try and make areas in my island based on what I see

I've been struggling with it a lot recently. typically I think going on something like pinterest and looking up 'acnh inspiration' helps give me a few ideas. I also find going to random dream addresses to be a funner way of getting some ideas tbh.

I’ve yet to start decorating, but I’m sure I will feel this someday. When I do, I love visiting random dream addresses to find inspiration. Sometimes seeing pictures of what other people do gives me a better idea on how to decorate and terraform.

all the time, sadly. i currently have two areas on my island that i consider complete and i have absolutely no idea what to do next. to gather inspiration, i’ll typically look through some animal crossing accounts on instagram to see what others have created - not to steal ideas, of course, but to hopefully get my creative juices flowing and to even remind myself of items/customization options that i may have forgotten about. i’ll also try to take inspiration from my interests outside of animal crossing or from things/memories that are important to me, such as a photography area, recreating an area from the city i live in, a memorial area for someone who means a lot to me who is no longer with us, etc. i’ll even try to get inspiration from my permanent villagers and what i associate them with - margie, for example, reminds me of nature and flowers, so the area around her house will eventually be a sort of garden. i also made an area dedicated to/inspired by celeste, as she’s my favourite npc.

but for me, the most important part is learning when not to try and seek out inspiration. not everyone is in the mood to create all of the time, or at least i’m not, and that’s perfectly okay. inspiration will never come when you try to force yourself to find it, so it’s always best to be patient with both yourself and your creations. good luck, friend. 💗
