I can tell its going to try and be a comedy action kind of movie but that scene with Jim Carey at the army camp just made me cringe
I couldn't stop myself from cringing at the "the doctor thinks you're basic" line in the trailer. It was a bit too much of a "hello fellow kids" moment for me. I'll most likely wait until it's out of theatres to watch it.

The more I watch the trailer, the more it feels like this is "Eggman The Movie", where Sonic is just
a special guest character in it.
Ok but this edit looks perfect, like 100 times better than the actual design. Why didn't they done it that
way? Also, looking now at the actual design compare with the edit on the right, the actual design looks
like some guy in a fursuit, wtf.

Okay, but I just noticed, he's not even wearing a watch.
Silly movie.
People are theorizing that the proportions are so humanlike because they used mo-cap for the animation. So he looks like a person in a fursuit because it's probably just a person in a tennis ball suit. Of course they could change the proportions to be more cartoony afterwards, but that's more work and more expensive now innit?
The original designer for Sonic said on twitter that he didn't like this design as well.

When the initial release of Sonic's design came out, I had a really bad feeling about the movie. The trailer is now pretty much the nail in the coffin...

I have no interest in watching the movie since I'm not a Sonic fan (I'm not sure whether that's better or worse in this situation) but I have a few friends who like the look of it because they say it looks So Bad It's Good in a way. Which, hey, valid. I've just been kind of entertained by the reactions to the Sonic design over the months.
Not gonna lie, I kinda like the idea of that. If they ever make a sequel, they should do what they should've done with this movie: put Jim Carrey in a fatsuit (for the egg shaped body), throw him in a bald cap and dye his moustache orange. Say that he let himself go and lost his hair as a result of the stress from his defeat at the hands of Sonic in this movie. Call it Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Robotnik's Revenge or Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Enter the Eggman or something.
