Yeah, Detective Pikachu sure wins the battle as best Live-Action Movie adaptation

I'm sorry but, dear Nook looks this terrible. First of all, what the heck is wrong with
Sonic's design? Those pics that showed his look back then were already weird, but
now seeing him in motion... Ugh. Don't wanna sound like Chris Chan here, but why
are his arms blue again? And why doesn't he wear actual gloves? Also, why does
he act like a teenager who is in the middle of his puberty?
As for Eggman/Robotnik, for some reasons, he reminds me of Jim Moriarty from the
show Sherlock. Besides, he doesn't look like Eggman at all..? Nothing against Jim Carry
here, but I saw better Eggman costumes online than the one they choose here for
Carry. Go search on Google "Dr Eggman costume" and you see people dressed as
Eggman which are looking both realistic and like the character from the game. In
this case, I agree here with people saying Carry looks in the movie like the evil
twin of Sportacus.
Also, looks like it's just Sonic and Eggman? No Tails, Knuckles or anyone else of
Sonic's friends? Hm, ok I guess, not sure if they are in the movie and they just
didn't show them in this trailer or if it's just these two only.
Overall, not my cup of tea. Don't wanna hate that much, but yeah, I don't like
it what I saw so far...

you can see a glimpse of knuckles at 0:20 in the trailer (i think)
I checked again and that red thing is one of those giant sitting bags. Looks in general like Sonic's
"home" in that scene. So far, no one of Sonic's friends are spotted in the trailer. :/
Also another note about Eggman: I didn't saw the very end of the trailer and the "other look" of
Carry as Eggman which sure does look like Eggman from the games. So I guess Eggman gonna
lose his hair and gets a bigger mustache later (thanks to Sonic?) or..? After watching the trailer
again, Eggman sure looks better then Sonic.
I like the part where Sonic suddenly realises he has the power of Za Wardo and stops time.
Disappointed there aren't more characters like Tails and Knuckles, I would have loved to see how awful they look.
Jim Carry just looks like he's being Jim Carry and I grew out of liking that shtick years ago. Other than that, I wouldn't even know he's Eggman if I wasn't told, looks absolutely nothing like him and acts absolutely nothing like any representation of him I can think off.
Overall, entertaining trailer for all the wrong reasons, but it looks like the movie is going to just be 'bad bad' rather than 'so bad its good'. Shame, because the latter is the best Sonic could have hoped for.
Ultimately, this looks like crap. I stand by my older opinion that a crap movie would be the perfect tribute to Sonic given the quality of the franchise. Paramount nailed it.

Well, there is that Mario Bros. live-action movie from 1993 which Bcat pointed out. I remember
to read somewhere that they wanted to make a live-action TV show of The Legend of Zelda,
but not sure if this is still a thing?

Just watched it. It's pure monstrosity. Seems like they slapped two characters from Sonic and just came up with their own plot that has absolutely nothing to do with the franchise. Just ugh.

I wish I could forget about that. One of the biggest disappointments of my childhood.
Anyway, this movie looks awful aside from a few well-placed gems. At least Detective Pikachu looked funny.
