In New Horizons, it lets you choose to play in the Southern or Northern Horizon to experience accurate weather and climate at the time. You can choose to play on either hemisphere, even if you don?t live in it. For example, before, let?s say if you live somewhere like Australia, you would play Animal Crossing in January. But it would be snowing? It?s not even winter! This is one of many options added to the new switch game coming out March 20th, 2020, that further customises your character and experience. A few others include customising your look beforehand, similar to in Happy Home Designer, and placing furniture outside.

Is it confirmed though whether or not we actually get to choose hemispheres? We don't just be locked into them based on our Switch's region?

At least the English-speaking Treehouse host said it was a choice.

I'm in Australia, but even playing the southern hemisphere, the in game winter is still an american one, as it doesn't snow where I am.

I had an idea for those who don't get snow in the southern hemisphere, or if you just don't like it, maybe be able to set your island to a certain season.

There could be surrounding islands for winter, autumn, and spring, where you could go to catch the seasonal bugs and fish, or in the case of winter, to build snowmen and catch snowflakes to get the ice and snowman sets as well as winter bugs and fish.

Would be kinda cool. :)

Its a Japanese game. Its a Japanese winter.

I know it's a Japanese game, I didn't know it snowed in winter there. :)

It would still be nice to never have snow, or have an island where it snows so you could get all winter related items and fauna.

Edit. I figured since they added the hemisphere option, perhaps it could be a little more accurate, weather wise. :)
