As far as the sharks in southern hemisphere islands...it doesn't seem like we have a whole lot going on in march for good fish.

Red snappers/barred knifejaws are too uncommon to make a decent earning. You can get tunas and stringfish on the pier but that requires alot of bait. Then there's the sturgeon on mystery islands...but I don't know what time of year applies to those isles.

I flagged as spoiler in case people didn't want to know about them (or haven't discovered the fish yet).

So what's the most expensive fish you've caught in march? And your best money making method *for fish only* (no tarantulas)

Stringfish and Coelacanth, for sure. Maybe the Char as well. Still looking for golden trout and barreleye, though.

I got the stringfish!! And colecanch but I consider stringfish rarer since it goes away in a couple days.

Probably the coelacanth. I’ve caught several sturgeon as well and I still need a stringfish.

I've caught coelacanth, tuna, blue marlin, oarfish and stringfish!

I'm now looking for the barreleye (which just doesn't want to exist on my island apparently) and the golden trout!

I've caught all the rares except coelacanth. It so far has only rained for an hour while I've played, and I wasn't successful by the time it stopped raining. :(

So yep, got golden trout, stringfish, char, barreleye, blue marlin, tuna, koi, oarfish, etc. It took a lot of fish bait to catch most of them. Golden trout took nearly 50 baits before I caught it, which was the highest amount so far.

I haven't seen a single sturgeon on my actual island but only on mystery ones. I forgot about koi in ponds but carps are very common. OH OARFISH, it just seems the fish are rare in this game..or perhaps im super unlucky.

Where'd you get the golden trout?

stringfish and coelacanth! the only march fish i'm missing right now is barreleye as far as i know

Stringfish and Coelacanth, for sure. Maybe the Char as well. Still looking for golden trout and barreleye, though.

I got a barreleye on a mystery island very late at night 11pm ish, size of a sea butterfly

Stringfish, golden trout and coelacanth. I've yet to see a barreleye.

Probably Stringfish, Coelacanth and Golden trout. I think I have all currently available fish.

Either the sturgeon or blue marlin. I was not able to get the sturgeon to spawn in my own town, so I used tour islands. I have only once had a blue marlin spawn once without using bait. I think that since the ocean area is so expansive or takes longer to traverse, it makes fishing a bit more time consuming than other areas.

In terms of money I have caught everything available for this month, surprisingly more coelacanth and stringfish than the rare, lesser bell-valued fish.

Fishing at night (9pm - 4am) in the ocean has generally been more profitable for me, if it is raining then it is even better.

Caught:
Stringfish
Char
Golden Trout
Coelacanth
Barreleye
Oarfish
Koi
Sturgeon

I'm on the hunt for Tuna & Blue Marlin now, but making this bait is driving me batty. x__x

From my experience in previous animal crossing titles, the stringfish was always the hardest to find - feel its the same on NH! Caught all the fish available in NH so far (northern hemisphere, March), and stringfish definitely took the most bait to find.

Probably the Stringfish, Coelacanth, and Barreleye. I'm still hunting for the Tuna and Blue Marlin, but not with any real intensity (I was more concerned with getting the ones that'll go away at the end of the month)

I spent a huge portion of my time fishing, so now I've caught all the fish available this month! weirdly, the fish I had the most trouble getting was the freshwater goby? I just couldn't find one at all until last night. strange.

I got a barreleye on a mystery island very late at night 11pm ish, size of a sea butterfly

actually, the barreleye is *slightly* bigger, it's the size of a horse mackerel.
