Starting a fresh island

Good day everyone

As a fairly new player to the game I decided to give myself a bit of time getting to grips with the game before actually making a proper island but now I am ready to do some proper design and build my forever island.

With that being said I was wondering what people thought was the best island and why. I have looked at a bunch of things online but thought I'd ask around here for some advice

The island is almost just a frame. You can change almost everything except plaza, airport location, colors and river mouth. I am picky with stones in each corner. But it is all about preference.

I restarted like crazy for stones on each sides. Like the one with puddles and the butterfly wing. I could not decide what I wanted so I went with one each. I dislike the small one. I wanted a rock in the water. Big pensuela. Long dock, i do not like stones in the back. I want it as clean as possible. Blue airport.

I believe it doesnt really matter. The issue is that I am ambivalent. So I am resetting no matter what. (Probably). If I find what I believe I want I just change my mind and want something new after a while. But who Knowes. Maybe I get a forever island one day!

I have oranges at the moment. Which I prefer. Works with my name *solfolket* sol=sun= oranges ^^

My daughter just wanted peaches. So it doesnt have to be super conplicated. ^^

So there's this thing where you make a wall of jail bars on a beach to force balloons to go south so you can just wait in a spot for the balloon to get to you instead of running up and down whenever you need to farm them, yeah? If you have river mouths on the west and the wind is blowing there, or east and the wind is blowing east, you're in trouble. So if you care about that, getting an island with south river mouths is your best bet.

I'd also recommend looking at the placement of the island's plaza and airport. My island is kinda symmetric so my off-center airport really gave me grief. My plaza is almost right in the middle though, I love that. Maybe you'd like the airport and plaza to be in a straight line?

Also something that annoys me a bit is how I have a tiny tiny section of the beach that's cut off from the rest (the distance between one of my river mouths and my airport is too small), so when checking the beach for Gulliver etc I have to go south then north for almost no land.

The best Island is whatever you make of YOUR island, I feel like. Sure, some people have preferred or ideal plaza layouts but the thing is... I've had short and i've had far plazas and how you make your entrance is totally on you and just because someone else might not like the distance, doesn't mean you don't! So don't worry so much about what other people find ideal and just worry about what you like. You can always pick one you like and run around for a bit before doing much just to see if you like it, then reset if you decide you don't. There are no rules that say you can't yanno?

blah. this is me too. Only my issue is not only am i ambivalent, I also have a ridiculous inability to let GO of things. This was fine for me in NL... I'd just buy another game copy and boom, here we go again. But I can't do that with AC. I have actually saved up to buy used switches just so I can play two more islands - which makes me feel silly to admit =( but being able to have the very different island themes are nice. I just wish we could just -buy- a new game and start fresh again, I miss being able to do that so muchhh
