Ok everywoomy, so as all of you know, New Horizons releases this Friday, and everyone is super hyped. What are the first 5 things you are going to be doing to your Island first, when you're able to?

Next Friday for me :)
I’ll probably take a while to decide on a perfect map and maybe reset for villagers. Then ill just enjoy the starting moments and see how the game goes.

First things:
- walk around the whole island to get a feel of how big it is
- try the jumping over the river
- shake some trees
- possibly hoard every ground item ( don’t know if I’ll need it for later)
- try to understand my app phone.

Edit:is it releasing this Friday for some?????

reset for an okay map (mostly were the town hall place is because im unsure if we can change that) and probably reset for villagers but only if i really dislike both of them. i dont want to reset too much since i just want to start my game haha
then ill try to figure out were my house should go and ill probably craft everything as soon as i can

Already have it planned out ;)

I want to have a good town layout and fruit first... villagers are not top of my list but if I might reset if I get someone I absolutely don’t wanna live with (‘:

Once started, my first priorities will be to explore my town and the villagers, collect materials, but also to CREATE more plants and gardens/orchards!
In the beginning, before layout plans, I will want to build some resources.

I will make these sections in my town:
-Fruit Orchard
-Cedar/Oak Tree Nursery
-Flower garden (hybrids)

Here I will grow more resources for crafting, personal use/decoration, and for spreading around town!
Once I’ve built up some good resources, then I will focus more on the detailed layout of my town.

Also among these things, collect fish and bugs!!!

I'll reset until I get apple, peach, or cherry as the native fruit, and the starting villagers are not anyone on my list of villagers that I dislike. Then I'll just go with the flow of the game :)

Step 1: start game
Step 2: sell everything not nailed down
Step 3: build campsite
Step 4: ??????
Step 5: profit

....Also fish for hours on end.

If the little cutscene where the girl is peeking out of the plane at the island is a scene we all get rendered to our own characters' specifications, it'll be perfect for soft resetting. I'll be able to look out of the plane, and see if it's the right colour. If it's not? Reset. When I peek out of the plane, I'll be able to see the fruit trees beneath me. Not the right fruit? Reset.

I don't care much about the grass types, but I'd also really love to have Reneigh on my island. If what we've heard/seen about the starting villagers being guaranteed as Uchi and Jock is true, I may just soft reset for her. It'll be a lot easier to get her as my Uchi at that early stage, since the old trick of creating a new villager to soft reset for the right villager of a certain personality type won't be working anymore due to autosaving.

Ideally, I want apples and a blue or green plane. And all of this resetting will ONLY take place after Timmy or Tommy show me the island I want (south and eastern river outlets, and the resident center in the southwest part of the island).

...I keep telling myself I'm not going to go reset crazy but I know I'll be doing it for hours and hours unless I get stupid lucky.

I'm playing at 9pm so after a long day I'm going to light my favorite incense, start New Horizons up and cry.

Restarting isn't on the table. So I'll pick one of the 4 maps I feel i can work with the most and pray I get a fruit in my top 3. This is so "its not that deep" but AC for me is rolling with the way of things.
I wish I could restart sometimes but I just finesse it and make it something that serves my purpose. That way I resonate and connect with my Island and grow to love it more than if I just manipulated it to love it from the start.

ps; i have no issue with people who restart or dupe or hack their towns there are plenty of games where i do that, just ac is hyper sentimental to me

it really depends on when i get the game. i don't start school until 1.15 the day it's out, so if it gets delivered early morning, i'll have time to play a bit. if not, i'll just play it when i get home and play for the evening - hopefully i'm not working! worst case scenario, no one's in the house when the package comes, and they take it to the depot for me to pickup the next day instead of giving it to a neighbour.

but i think the first things i'll do are scope out the island, talk to my villagers, test out all the controls and reap the island of its resources.

The first things I will do will be:

1. Judge my default clothing choice
2. Talk to Nook
3. Wander around looking for a tent spot
4. Probably get distracted by staring at a tree
5. Set up my tent

I just have to say, I completely agree with your sentiments here. I don't look down on anyone for trying to manipulate their game into as ideal a version as possible to start with. Having said that, I'll be getting emotionally attached and invested into my town/island right away as it's mine and special and just for me.

Feeling this way is only a part of it. I also consider it a challenge to take what I'm given and make something special and unique out of it. Not just in this game but also in life lol.

Whatever the game throws at me or defaults to at the start, these are crucial elements of the natrual experience of the game unfolding for me. I will look back and remember these initial qualities and experiences with fondness one day. Looking at my in-game world and thinking of all the time and love I've put into it in order to make it the best it could be. All of those trials and tribulations making it uniquely mine.

At any rate, the FIRST thing I'll be doing is walking around the entire island to get a general feel of the layout of the land...and maybe start laying out the mental groundwork for my future plans...hee hee.

Well the tutorial will dictate the first 5 things. So afterwards:

1. Fish
2. Drop fish on the ground to save for museum
3. Sell duplicate fish
4. Sell all fruit on trees.
5. Wast time exploring the UI and island

The Plan™:

1. Get over this stupid chest and sinus cold
2. Wait for AC:NH to release next week
3. Go out and purchase game from WalMart
4. Purchase some snacks from WalMart
5. Come home from WalMart
6. Boot up the Nintendo Switch™
7. Play AC:NH
8. Cry when I realize I'm likely going to spend at least an hour resetting for desired island features
9. Play AC:NH for real

i wish it were coming out this friday :c

as for me, the first 5 things i?ll be doing is resetting for the map and fruit i want, getting through the tutorial, fishing, bug catching and exploring :p

just like others have said, it's the special edition ac switch that is releasing this friday haha. if only, smh.

1. start game, get all the lil tutorials done.
2. gather a bunch of resources (you can get 3 wood from one tree a day, so i guess i'd probably go through every tree lmfao)
3. maybe clean up a few weeds, but barely any because of the aesthetic.
4. social with the villagers, sell a bunch of things.
5. test out new features that are available at the start of the game
bonus: fish and catch bugs for hours

I can't decide which one of these I like more and which one I will eventually copy lol
