So, I've been completely out of the loop regarding anything Nintendo Switch related (trying to protect my wallet lol) and I just wanted to clarify, would you have to pay $9.99/month for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to trade/visit other people through the internet in AC:NH?

From what I understand, online multiplayer isn't free on the Nintendo Switch like it is on the 3DS with New Leaf...very disappointing if true wtf Nintendo :(

Trading/playing with other people through the forums is a key feature to me and I don't want to pay $9.99/month for it considering how expensive the Switch already is :(((

Is $20 a year, or $35 a year for the family pack of up to 8.

But yes, you need the online subscription.

Not trying to spread negativity about New Horizons, but I just wanted a clarification about how online multiplayer works before I spend that $360 + tax on a Switch & NH lol :)

Thanks for answering! Guess I'm sticking to New Leaf then ahaha

Yes, you will need a Switch Online subscription for multiplayer. But the price is $20 for a year, or I think $35 for a family plan...which is up to eight profiles. And they don't have to all be on the same system, so you could potentially split the cost with some friends/family and it'd be pretty cheap

I'm giving away a 3 month subscription to 3 random user picks. If you decide to buy the Switch, and you're feeling lucky, just drop your interest in the thread here: https://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?478035-3x-3-Month-Nintendo-Online-Membership-Giveaway

There are also a few people here who may invite you to their family plan.

I know cost is subjective to everyone, but it should only cost about $20 for 12-months, which is $1.67 a month. That's about the cost to eat an item off a fast food dollar menu once a month

EDIT: In the end, I think New Horizons will be a lot of fun, even if you're unfortunately stuck playing solo.
