stupid things you used to believe

I remember a few Animal Crossing urban legends from reading things such as YouTube comments and retrieving them from the back of my mind. I can't say that I believed all of them, but some of them are:

• At least in the GameCube version, if you were a bad enough person to your villagers, you could end up getting arrested.
• If you talked to your villagers every day for a certain amount of time (the comment I read said a year, but I'm not sure that's the time I remember hearing), you could marry them. Heard this for several versions.
• And, of course, the Brutus rumor on GCN. That rumor that Brutus, a bulldog villager, would move into your town at night, stay a single day, and then move out. He'd apparently do things like chop down all your trees, would kidnap your favorite villagers, and if you tried to make a conversation with him, he'd laugh at you and delete your town data. Needless to say, this one was TERRIFYING. By the time I got into GCN, this one was still going around.

I remember in Christmas 2015 when i got happy home designer when i was 10, my sister told me if I quit without saving, resetti would yell at you, and force you to make a house for him, and if you said no, he would erase your save data and Tom nook would fire you. Luckily it's not true, but 10 year old me was pretty frightened by that lol

This has already been mentioned by someone else, but I also believed that the weather in-game would match up in real life. I now know that's pretty much impossible lol.

Maybe this isn't something I "believed" per se, but more something that I did. When Resetti would come out of the ground to scold the player for not saving, because I really wanted to play the game, I would turn the game off and hope that he would go away, completely missing the point of Resetti

I used to think Beardo's name was pronounced Beard-o, yknow like his weird facial hair.......until I realized he doesn't have an actual beard....but he is a bear. Bear-do just feels weird to say tho!

When I first played NL, I used to think that the jellyfish were catchable and that I had to give them to the museum. After getting stung multiple times I realized they were there just to irritate me

To be fair, until New Leaf, you could catch them. Jellyfish were fished up in the GCN game, Wild World, and City Folk.
