I'm thinking about getting a Switch so I'm looking into the cost of things I'd want with it first, before getting into games even.

The pro controller is around $50. No thank you. Screen protectors, maybe. Zippered pouch or case, a necessity.

Sd cards have decided to quit on me before on the 3ds, due to the brand's write speed. They recommend the sandisk brand, but there are different kinds. Looking at the local Gamestop sd card sizes go up to 128 gigs. The was a sandisk brand 128 gig card there for $50, but another same size and brand with the Switch logo for $90. Going down to 64 gigs, there was one for $35, for the Switch logo one it would be $60.

Apparently the type of card matters, according to someone with the official Nintendo support line, anything above 32 gigs needs to be an HC card, and anything above 64 gigs needs to be an XC card. Due to how fast the card would need to write data.

You only really need an SD card if you plan on buying a ton of digital games. I buy physical mainly on the Switch so I don?t even really need one. I do have a 4GB one just for screenshots and video clips (mainly for the ease of transferring the files to a computer). Everything else I just save on the built in system memory. The SD is just from my 3DS as I used to buy a ton of digital games on it so I upgraded to a 64GB SD card and kept the 4GB one just in case.

I highly suggest the Pro Controller. I use it for most games (only Snipper Clips and Mario Odyessy is when I perfer the Joycons). Yes the pro is pricey but it?s super comfy feeling (the joy cons aren?t so much) and worth it in my opinion. Especially if you have good size hands. I have small hands and even I find my hands cramping a bit when using the joycons for more intense type games (like Mario Kart and Splatoon).

A case is definitely needed if you plan on taking your Switch places. If only being kept at home it?s not but that?s up to you.

I highly suggest a screen protector. A glass one is really good as it feels and looks better than the built in screen as it makes the whole system feel more rigid. Also before I had mine I just had a plastic one and I was glad I did as my dock scratched my screen, but thankfully since I had the protector I was able to take it off and my screen was fine.

You possibly might want a stylus too depending on what you want to play as the Switch doesn?t come with a stylus and just any old stylus won?t work (needs to be a smartphone style one 3DS/Wii U ones won?t work). Again this depends on what you plan on playing not really needed if you aren?t using the touch screen much.

A screen protector is a 100% must because the screen can easily be scratched. Get a tempered glass because it’s less likely to accidentally peel off than a plastic one. Also I’ve never had an SD card fail on me because I always buy from trustworthy sellers like BestBuy. I wouldn’t recommend one yet either. The big ones (200GB+) prices have gone down a lot since the Switch was released so I’m glad I waited. I will continue to wait until I need one.

Also I wish I had a pro controllers but the joy cons + grip are fine

I'm not even using the doc. I did get a tempered glass screen protector. Would the stylus register though that?

The styluses that are compatible with Switch's capacitive touchscreen needs to be made of conductive materials, with the tip's diameter measuring at least a quarter of an inch. Such screens are designed to respond to the small (unnoticeable) static electricity that any finger tip is consistently able to provide.

Just get a SD card that has a UHS-1 or higher (goes up to UHS-3) writing speed. All other info about the card you don't really need to pay attention to.

First I've heard about this. I was first told to look for the HC or XC.

HC and XC means nothing, it's just that high capacity SD cards are called "High Capacity" (HC) and extra high capacity "eXtra high Capacity" (XC).

In other words, cards that have a higher capacity such as the 128GB one are called Micro SDXC, as they have extra high capacity. So you can ignore those letters and just look at the storage space.

I got my Switch at launch and with it I bought a fairly generic case for $20. It holds you Switch with both Joy Cons attached and there's an inset where you can hold five game cards in holders, however, the inset also has a mesh pocket underneath where you store game cards so MAYBE you can carry extras in the mesh pouch.

Definitely good in terms of a case. As for other accessories, you'll have to wait til like June or July, but Nintendo is putting out an adjustable docking stand that lets you play and charge anywhere without needing to carry around you actual Switch dock and while third party devs are offering this type of thing for fifty bucks, Ninty is allegedly offering theirs for 20.

Really, accessories are in the eye of the beholder. For example I have two chargers. One to keep at home and one to use when I travel. But I dunno anyone else personally who does that.
