*recycles old thread*

So I got another question. The touch feature on the Intuo Pen & Touch, is the touch feature really worth it at all? You can buy a small without the touch feature and save yourself a few bucks. Jint said the touch feature is worthless, and a review I just watched said just forgot about it, go for just the Intuos Pen. It's only a $30 dollar different for me if I go for a small but eh, is it worth it? Intuos Pen is about $100.00 - $108.00 NZD, Intuos Pen & Touch Small $129.00 NZD, and the Intuos Pen & Touch Medium $349.99 NZD, ek!
I have 2 more question about tablets.

I have my eye on a Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics Tablet, as I have seen it for an ok price on the site I use. It seems to be rather good. But I am not 100% sure. I'll be looking up more reviews on this tablet but has anyone had any experience with it? This tablet will work with my computer (as it's rather old, XP), but do you think its worth it purchasing a second hand tablet?

I'm also worried about the tablet I originally had in mind, Intuos Pen & Touch.
https://store.wacom.com/us/en/product/CTH680/
I'm scared it might not work on my XP, but there is this?
http://us.wacom.com/en/support/drivers/
I'm not sure if it will do the trick though...
I am still looking for a tablet, but I don't know much about them. Never owned one, nor used one in my life. So I am making this thread (somewhat again from my question a month or so back) for your guys opinions / recommendations. I know the Wacom tablets are good and I am looking for a cheap tablet around 100 or less (like a bamboo).

I have seen two that have caught my eye here, but again I know nothing about tablets. Are they good?

You should definitely get a tablet. It's waaaayyyy easier than using a mouse. :rolleyes:
I'd definitely go with either one of the tablets listed on your original post. I've heard the Intuos series is really good and easy to use. It's based on personal preference, really.

If you're just starting out with art and just wanna play around, I definitely recommend the intuos. I know the bamboo is affordable but honestly the amount of times I heard complaints about it doesn't make it worth it.

The intuos is really nice and fluid, great calibration. While the bamboo is fidgety and I swear it has mood swings... So stick with the intuos, they're fairly sturdy and will last you awhile until you feel you're ready for an upgrade.

Thank you both! I searched up reviews on the Wacom Bamboo Tablet CTL-470, it has pretty meh... reviews. A lot of complains.

I think its about time, yes lol.

Thank you! That helps a lot! :)
I'm not starting out (unless you mean tablet wise), as I have done digital art for sometime now. It's just I have never used a tablet, and know nothing about them.

I did mean tablet-wise, sorry! X_X As in just starting with digital art. I always found the intuos tablet family to be pretty reliable and had mine for years. Only dropped it because I upgraded but it never broke down on me.

I really should be in bed now, I'm starting to say weird things. If I stay up any later things are gonna get weird...... er

Haha, understood and thank you so much again! I think I will definitely go with the Intuos tablet! :)

I've worked with an intuos 3 and an intuos 4, and I think both are more or less the same -- tho if you're aiming for the A4 sized/meduim one... you'll notice that Intuos 3 takes up waaaayyyy too much space on your table (it's like putting an A3 poster on your table) and is very annoying to carry around. Also... it's very heavy compared to an intuos 4 as well. ;____;
plusss the shortcut buttons are really annoying to work with. orz
Not sure if it's just due to the age but I think the pressure sensitivity on the Intuos 4 is slliiigghhttttllyy better

regarding if its worth buying a second hand tablet:
I think it depends on how long the person selling it has been using it...? My Intuos 4 is still working after 3 years ish and my previous bamboo fun pen and touch(1~2years) is still working for the friend I gave it to -- so that's 5 years;;
Some people on deviantart have been using their wacom tablets for around 7 years before they break/malfuntion so... yeah

I've tried the intuos you linked before at a wacom promo stall thing (?) and I think it works well too wwww
not sure if this is useful either but the touch function is pretty much useless (it's like an additional trackpad lol) so if there's one that's cheaper without the touch function you might want to get that one instead owo`

eeeee that was hella long but hope this helps!!

EDIT: CRIES I FORGOT TO PUT THIS HERE BUT there's also artists who use this tablet brand here for art and I think they work pretty well with it...?

intuos from what i've heard is a very reliable line; wacom in general if you ask me; my intuos is at least 4-5 years old and still working fine and i've heard people owning 10-year-old intuos 3 and still working fine

i absolutely think it's worth it to get a second hand (my expensive electronics besides my laptop are all second hand); and from what i've seen, people do take care of their expensive electronics (my second-hand tablet came with its original box and what not); i would strongly recommend that you see the product in person before you purchase it; check for the general condition of the tablet, check for the scratches etc.

i don't think the intuos pen and touch would work with xp; check the specifications tab and only vista and windows 7/8 are listed

i think go for the intuos 3! you deserve one! good luck!

I don't have good art, but I've had the Intuos Pen & Touch Medium since Christmas and I love it.

I have only recently started using it for graphics, but previously I was using for "osu!".

I don't think this is your question anymore but I'm a bit confused so I'll state it anways.

I did NOT like the Wacom Bamboo tablet, it wasn't a good ratio to the screen, causing me to have to use mouse mode, not accurate, I felt the pressure sensitivity was horrid, and just overall awkward for me to use due to its size.

I felt it was a waste of money and I should have went straight to [this] tablet.

(I think it's the same you linked).

Hope this helps any.

Ekkk thank you. The tablet I was watching just ended, and the person wanted 200 dollars (reserve) for it. What?! There is another for 26 dollars, but after what you said I think I should definitely go with the Intuos Pen and Touch. Note, never used a tablet, I have been a mouse user for life. So this is my very first. What exactly is the touch function?

Oooooh I think my friend recently got a tablet from there. I remember the brand. She says its pretty good but it acts up at times so that part scares me haha. Most have recommended an intuos or a bamboo to me, so I think I will stick with an intuos perhaps? I hope its does the job well and doesn't eat my wallet.
bvidvbud filiiiiipinoooooo

Thank you dear! It must be a good tablet then! Moly! The first auction I had in mind had a good price and everything together but the box. However it just ended because the reserve was never meet. They wanted 200, ouch. There is another for 26 dollars, reserve meet. But all it comes with is the disk, the tablet, the pen, and a bag. No box, no holder, etc. So I am rather worried. But for its price, yeah. I can't see them in person before purchase so that's out of the question.

After much googling, it does work if you download the driver!
"We recommend not using Windows XP anymore, but if you must, download the 6.37-6 driver. That works."

Yup thats the same link, and thank you! I was thinking about getting a bamboo from the start, but after seeing... much mixed reactions and reviews I decided not to get it and go for an intuos. I'm sorry you had to deal with a bamboo. :<

Wacom doesn't even make Bamboos anymore since they retired that line and replaced it with the Intuos line. What used to be the Intuos line is now the Intuos Pro line. Yeah, it gets confusing, I know. XD The one you linked looks pretty good. It's the larger version of what I have, which is this:

http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos-...8&qid=1430533094&sr=1-3&keywords=wacom+intuos
Oh yes! I forgot about that, so.
Bamboo -> Intuos
Intuos --> Intuos Pro

Oh boy.

I'm still deciding if I should go for the medium or the small. I'm leaning more towards the small but ehhhh.

If you'd like any pictures of the medium in a real work/comparison setting I can take some.
I love my medium. Imo worth the extra $.

cries I'm sorry I got confused apparently the bamboo tablets line is now just renamed to intuos even the sales tricked me im so ((jintno
but yep I do recommend the tablet!! 1024 pen pressure makes it easier for beginners ovo` (intuos pro has 2048 pen pressure and it might be a bit too sensitive to handle -- when I upgraded my tablet it took me quite a while to adjust to it orzzz)
the touch function... does nothing except annoy the heck out of you tbh :'DDDD
sometimes when you're drawing with the pen, it takes your finger? hand?'s movements instead and screw up the drawing so I had it off the entire time
I think the touch function was designed for smaller kids to draw with their fingers...ish? so dw too much about it really!!

I forgot lol

Hmm, well I do love my art so IDK if just jumping to a pro would be good? Eh, maybe just an intuos is fine but IDK now ROFL.

Well that sounds like fun! I'll have to remind myself to turn that thing off if I get that tablet.

Are you in a rush? Just noticed my phone was dead, so if you aren't in a rush I can send them tomorrow or I can change my phone and get some pictures in about 30-60 minutes, :p.

No rush at all! Take your time, its must appreciated. :D

i think whether or not you want to go with an "intuos/bamboo" or "intuos pro/intuos" also depends on what kind of artworks you want to do in the long run. i have my eyes set on the old intuos line because i want the higher pen pressure sensitivity (this helps you blend the colours better in photoshop and the likes) and i want to be able to do "paintings", movie/video game concept art type of art. i spent $200 on my intuos 4 too but given the range of things that i'd like to do, i think the $200 is more than a reasonable investment. however, i will say that since i use photoshop primarily and have never used sai, i don't know how much the old intuos will enhance the whole sai painting experience
