I’m not a big tea drinker. I prefer coffee. But I do enjoy a good chai and chamomile
1. What is your favourite tea that you will always go to? Chai. Specifically the chai latte at coffee bean
2. What is your least-favourite tea that you will avoid? Plain black tea yuck
3. Do you drink your tea with milk or cream?
Milk if it’s chai. Just honey if it’s chamomile
4. Do you prefer whole tea leaves or tea bags? Teabags
5. Have you ever given tea as a gift?
Not that I can remember

When I read this title, I thought you were talking the gossip kind of tea :ROFLMAO: I voted for flower tea though! This may be a bit of a cheat, but I think that you can have lovely flower black teas, flower oolong teas, flower white teas... they really have a lot of versatility!

1. What is your favourite tea that you will always go to?
I drink a lot of ginger lemon tea (from Twinings, specifically) with manuka honey because it's supposed to be good at soothing sore throats and for treating menstrual cramps, because of the ginger that is in it. Not sure if it really has those effects, but I drink it anyways! I used to get a thermos full every day in the winters in secondary school. We also have a lot of it around the house, so that helps.

2. What is your least-favourite tea that you will avoid?
Hm... I haven't tried many fermented teas or dark teas, but just judging by the fact that it has the word 'fermented' in it, I'm not sure if I would like that. I tend to not go for teas that seem like they would be very artificially flavoured, such as chocolate tea - it just seems a bit weird to me!

3. Do you drink your tea with milk or cream?
I sometimes put milk in black tea, but I won't put milk in anything else. I'm Chinese, so I grew up drinking a lot of green and oolong teas, especially when we'd go out for dinner. In a traditional Chinese restaurant, you will be offered hot water and/or tea with your meal. It is not traditional to add milk, cream, sugar, or any other flavourings into your tea. I'm really not used to putting milk into my tea, so I don't tend to do it, even with different teas!

4. Do you prefer whole tea leaves or tea bags?
Tea bags. They're just much easier to handle. If I want to drink whole tea leaves, I'll put them into a bag first.

5. Have you ever given tea as a gift?
Yes, I have! I've bought some nice whole tea leaves for friends before, as well as tea sets from the local tea shop, which come with different kinds of tea to sample. I think they make for a nice gift since nice tea isn't something that people would necessarily buy for yourself, but is something that can make your day more enjoyable and relaxing.

I love tea! 😍 I've given so many tea gift sets to friends with their favorite teas along with cute pots/saucers. So many gift combinations. If I had the space I'd have a teapot collection.

My personal favorites are vanilla oolong (from David's Tea) and matcha green tea. Matcha tea lattes are tasty too. If I'm feeling something sweeter I'll make a black tea with milk or Bolthouse's Holiday Eggnog. Not usually one for eggnog but this stuff is amazing in black tea.

I don't enjoy floral/fruity teas hot; however, I find them refreshing iced. Anyone else a fan of homemade iced teas?

EXCUSE ME, CHOCOLATE TEA??? THIS IS A THING?! Where do I get it? I need this. I so need to try this.

I'm not huge on tea, I like fruity, fruity oolong and milk tea. Tazo Cahi if that counts too.
1 Go to tea, milk tea. It's not too strong and it's cold. I don't like hot drinks.
2 Least fav, flower drinks in general taste pretty funny, I want to try more but still, I avoid hibiscus anythin drinks.
3 I guess the answer would be milk since I drink milk tea at times. But if it isn't already a milk tea then nothin. I should prob add more things into it.
4 Never had tea leaves to my knowledgeable, I've made tea bags at home.
5 I have not given tea as a gift, no one around me really likes tea. I'm just an oddball.

Tea is very versatile nowadays! To the point you have carbonated iced teas  What's listed is the original blends that are more commonplace and have been around for awhile. My mom tells me the same thing with ginger lemon tea  It's more beneficial if you boil slices of ginger and lemon in water and pour the water through a teabag (retain most of the nutrition and medicinal properties from the two ingredients than if you bought a pre-packaged teabag with those ingredients in it). Try taking Manuka Honey before having the hot tea, so it doesn't break down the honey and disminish any medicial properties that it contains.

Fermented teas are very very very pricey and look for in Chinese majority communities! Just like how you would consider alcohol, longer fermentation leads to longer taste and hence heftier prices! My grandfather passed down Pu'Er cakes from his father to my father and he still keeps it and drinks it once in awhile. It is 93 years old! The most incredulous thing is that you can brew the leaves more than 15 times and it still retains flavour! I'm of half-Chinese descent here lol and drinking tea with meals are so commonplace, my go to tea blend is tieguanyin oolong tea, it's much lighter to drink :)

I'm a fan of homemade ice lemon tea! I like to brew myself some Earl Grey tea with lemon slices and throw in some ice during hot days in the summer. Sometimes I'll add honey on the rims of the cup so that whenever I take a sip, I get a little sweetness from the honey lol  Never had eggnog with tea before, will try that out.

Yes. Chocolate tea is a thing

The ones available here in Thailand is from Harney & Sons Fine Teas and on Amazon you can get decaffeinated chocolate teas:

I love tea, though, I prefer coffee.
My favorite flavor of tea is Bengal Spice but I love chamomile and lavender (usually with vanilla.)

I love tea! I usually drink green tea because it's what I have readily available, but when there's a good oolong close by, or a jasmine, they're my go-tos.

I don't even know if this is real tea, but I LOVE the Chai Tea Lattes at Starbucks!! But it's also tied with Panera's Papaya Green Tea!
Although I'm Asian, I don't drink a whole lot of tea so I can't say I've ever had a tea that I didn't like. And because I only get my tea from restaurants, I didn't even know you could put milk or cream in. But I'd probably put in cream because I have a sweet tooth! And I'm curious as to how one could even make tea with leaves, wouldn't that be difficult? I've made myself some chamomile tea with a teabag though, so I suppose that'd be the preference.

wow i didnt realize how many of these i liked lmao but last three cant say bc havent tried them!

1. What is your favourite tea that you will always go to?
lemongrass tea is made in the heavens, i also love black tea a lot and karak tea (basically black tea too) and matcha as well

2. What is your least-favourite tea that you will avoid?
some brands of black tea are really bitter and unpleasant, i think they oxidized for too long maybe?? idk

3. Do you drink your tea with milk or cream?
i could add milk to black tea but thats about it lol, apart from maybe matcha latte (no sugar too, that ruins the tea!!)

4. Do you prefer whole tea leaves or tea bags?
i tried both, i think the process of preparing tea with leaves is therapeutic to me haha

5. Have you ever given tea as a gift?
i have!! two friends of mine actually got me into trying other variations of tea and so i got them matcha tea bags (sencha) from japan and we had them together <3

Chai is a real tea originating from the Indian subcontinent (it's a flavoured tea beverage made by brewing black tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs). Latte uses steamed milk, so you've been drinking been drinking tea with milk this whole time :)

Making tea with tea leaves is not that much harder than a tea bag (although tea bag is far more convenient to dispose of).
- There are two ways of making tea with tea leaves (oolong tea leaves in the image), the first way is to place tea leaves directly into a teapot and add hot water:
Tea leaves directly in teapot.jpg

The downside about this method is that if the teapot does not have a filter then the tea leaves will end up in your cup when you pour the tea from the teapot into your cup. Secondly, if you leave the tea leaves sitting in hot water for too long, the flavour would become stronger and more bitter especially with fermented and black tea.

- The second method is to use a teapot with a tea filter in the middle. This allows you to place the tea leaves in a filter as well as control the duration of infusion process (how long the tea leaves will sit in hot water). The stronger the colour of a tea, the stronger the taste will be.

I will give you an insight of how I was taught by my Chinese grandparents on how to make tea with Chinese tea sets (often made in ceramic and clay).
Chinese Tea Set.jpg

First, you pour warm (not hot) water to wet the teapot for about 5 minutes to avoid 'shocking' the teapot and causing breakage then pour out the water.
Next, you use a clipper to transfer tea leaves into a tea filter (you can see it placed on a hand statue) and place the tea filter with the tea leaves into the teapot. Add hot water and throw out the first brew (to wash away any impurities).
Next, you transfer brewed tea from the teapot to a tea holder (like a saucer or sauce holder) to let the tea cool a little so that you may pour it into the small tea cups for yourself and others to drink.
The brush is for you to brush the wet tea leaves out of the tea filter to add new tea leaves. My grandparents told me tea leaves can last between 5 - 10 brews but they usually thow it out after 5. I personally brew until the tea leaves lose its flavour

Lemongrass is commonly found here in Thailand so I can just pluck lemongrass or buy it fresh from the market and then brew it with some tea leaves! :)

To control bitterness of tea, you can control the duration of infusion (when the tea bag is steeped in water). Otherwise, it can also be that the tea leaves was overburnt before it was pounded to powder and placed in a tea bag.

Yes, I agree that sugar is not a companion for tea. Tea is suppose to be medicinal and bitter (mostly) but then it would make it hard for some to swallow and enjoy it so as long as people are drinking tea and receiving medicinal benefits, it's all good

Glad you find preparing tea leaves therapeutic! It is in some ways!

the first time i tried it was in Thailand actually! its so so sooo good 😭 😭 so lucky!!

i dont think its the infusion, its most probably plain ol' burnt lol i dont mind bitter tea at all but its the unpleasant kind of bitter with the burnt tea haha

i mean, yeah but it just makes it taste like a diluted syrup drink lmao and im pretty sure the sugar being there affects the health worse than the tea does good :ROFLMAO:

when my tea is piping hot and the steam infused with the aroma of the tea reaches my face and i can feel the warmth of it, and catch the scent of the tea.. that's my most enjoyable moment

I voted oolong. But I probably drink Jasmine and Black more through the day.

1. What is your favourite tea that you will always go to? Jasmine is generally always a go to. I love oolong but some really great varieties can be pretty pricey.
2. What is your least-favourite tea that you will avoid? The fruit ones (berry, orange, whatever).
3. Do you drink your tea with milk or cream? Somewhat. Tea with boba, yes. I don't drink coffee very often so, if I feel I need some boost, I may do royal milk tea for the increase in caffiene.
4. Do you prefer whole tea leaves or tea bags? Whole.
5. Have you ever given tea as a gift? Nope. Most people I know love coffee more than tea.

I'm not a huge tea drinker, but I have been drinking it a lot recently since it has less caffeine compared to coffee.

1. What is your favourite tea that you will always go to?
Black tea with milk, and sometimes extra sugar if I feel up to it. It's basic but it's so good.

2. What is your least-favourite tea that you will avoid?
I haven't really tried many. I didn't like chamomile tea when I tried it though ^^"

3. Do you drink your tea with milk or cream?
Milk. I feel like cream would be too sickly.

4. Do you prefer whole tea leaves or tea bags?
I don't have a preference, I like both. Bags are more convenient though.

5. Have you ever given tea as a gift?
A while ago, yes. I know a couple of people who would like tea as a gift as well :)

Thank you for all this insight on tea!! I think I will attempt making tea the way you explained!! I'm Chinese, but I've grown up in a very white community with an all-white family so I have little connection to Chinese culture and I feel like it'd be cool to make myself some tea in a fashion used by older Chinese people!

ok i already posted but i think i have another favorite. idk if this counts, but i love chai tea lattes. they're my absolute favorite and go to :) second would be matcha/green tea lattes. generally speaking, tea in sweet latte form is my number one

i love green tea and matcha !! iced matcha lattes also matcha lemonade ooomg to die for;; also matcha bubble tea
