If you own a television or a neighbor's house has one, you will be able to watch Animal Crossing TV channels on it. Each hour, the channels change to a variety of different programs (excluding the News Channel, which stays on 45 minutes and the Weather Channel which only last 15 minutes). Even if you own multiple televisions, all channels in all homes will be the same for that particular hour. If you watch TV after 3 am, (or 2:45 am on weekends), until 6 am, all you'll see is white TV noise and test patterns, which do absolutely nothing.

Apart from the weather channel, TV channels are completely irrelevant to the game, but are comical to watch. There is a weekly set schedule with slightly different programming for each day of the week. For example, there are more sports shows and movies on the weekends.

The Weather Channel
The most useful channel is the weather. By watching the weather, just like real life, you will be prepared for a sunny or cloudy day or for rain, snow etc (any news about the weather happens the following day). The weather channel is especially useful for those wanting to complete their museum, or personal collection of fish, bugs, ballons, or gyroids. (Ex: Rain/Snow will water all your flowers and turnips and spawn gyroids the next day, while a sunny day means Phineas may appear).

The weather forecast comes after the News Channel at 6:45 a.m., 7:45 a.m. (excluding Sunday), 11:45 a.m., 6:45 p.m., 10:45 p.m., and 11:45 p.m. (weekends only).

Time traveling can affect the weather. If you see the weather, then time travel, the weather may be different.
