After much thought, I've came up with a layout. I am probably over thinking it but I wanted to share for others who may be completely new like I am and not sure how or what to plan for in a journal to make sure you have enough room and not end up disorganized.

First, I wanted to think about what I actually wanted to journal about the game and secondly, I went on various AC groups and looked at how they did theirs. I have came up with 2 layouts.
The first one for me being completely new to AC knowing nothing about things and the second being more familiar with AC. And feel free to add to if you feel I missed something.

1. Intro (about your place and you, perhaps also a table of contents)
2. Calendar with a notes page to record birthdays and events by month (I am planning for a year)
3. Back of each calendar month w/ notes, end of month entry. Could be a summary of things that happened or how you felt about stuff.
4. Collection Lists - still don't know what kind of collection stuff yet
5. Quick Recipe/Miscellaneous Reference Sheet
6. Villager entries. I don't know anything about them so it is a place to record their move in and move out dates and my thoughts about them and anything I thought was sweet or funny they said or wrote. I hope to meet all or almost all of them on my island.

1. Intro
2. Dreamy List
3. New Villager Entries, what you think about them.
4. Calendar with Notes and end of month entry
5. Villager List, who moved in and out
6. Collections List
7. Quick Reference/Notes

- I have heard from people of villagers writing letters to you that people sometimes like to write down and keep, I figured these could be put in a pocket or thrown in with #5.

I picked up a simple lined notebook. I'm not really a bullet journal person, so I'd rather keep more of a diary.

I'll start with my first day and record it as I go. It gives me room to talk about the day, list accomplishments, and create a back story for the island as it grows.

The last few pages are plain unlined, so I'll use them to create a list of birthdays by month.

It won't be flashy, but I have different colored pens and highlighters, so I can make important things pop.
