I missed a lot of Farewell to New Leaf.... is this what they call a "dusting event"

Ehhh, yes and no. Technically, yes, there's dust with this that we're using for the forward and backward reactions, and there have been other similar dusts in the past. That said, I think "dusting events" has more of a connotation with the ones where everyone's posting, creating threads, leaving messages on others' profiles, reacting, etc. and working toward the goals of unlocking things by accumulating a ton of dust as a community.

That might just be me though.
