I agree with this. I would like at least 12, 10 felt like too few in NL. 16 might be pushing it, but I wouldn't mind it because we would get 2 of each personality type, assuming they don't add anymore. Not sure I'd like more than 16 though...
At least 15. There's getting to be so many villagers now that 10 feels so limiting. Sure, they'd have to make the town bigger to fit more villagers. But I think it should be bigger anyway.
Voted for 12-15. Animal Crossing: Population Growing (GC) had 15 villagers and it felt right. But it only worked because each acre was its own map. 15 might be too much in more modern games in the series, however I do thing 12 would be a good number of villagers for AC: Switch.
I honestly like 10. I had best friends rank with everyone and feel it would be impossible to keep up with anymore to that same level. I feel like less villagers but more valuable dialogue and interactions from each villager is better. I don't want to think of villagers as just 'I'm collecting you because you are cute to look at even if you act the same as 99% of the other villagers living in town'
My new town usually has 9 villagers, and when it has 10, I find it more difficult to maintain. On days of 8, it kind of feels empty, though, so 9 is my perfect amount.
I hope the next game can have the max of 15 villagers, but also allow for a stable town with 9 of them without chances of move-ins. Either that, or while you have 15 villagers, you don't have to maintain the friendships of 5-6 of them. The extras would act like the main street wonderers in your town, and you wouldn't have to do any tasks and such for them. Although this sounds rather weird to see...
