I finished the conversation at the Devon Corporation and set sail for Dewford Town! There, I caught a first encounter Zubat in Granite Cave, which I nicknamed Cherry to continue the ice cream naming scheme. I battled some trainers on the route there and then went to take on Brawly. Thanks to Strawberry and Blue Moon, his gym was a breeze, and I was even able to take out his Makuhita using Strawberry (despite being two levels below it). Now I'll continue playing and will head towards Mauville City, site of the third Hoenn gym badge!
Trainer: Riley
Rivals: May; Wally
Gym badges: 2
Current team:
Blue Moon the Marshtomp (M), Lv. 18
Strawberry the Beautifly (M), Lv. 14
Dark Pretzel the Poochyena (F), Lv. 12
Candy Cap the Shroomish (M), Lv. 12
Rocky Road the Whismur (M), Lv. 12
Cherry the Zubat (M), Lv. 11
I set sail again to near Slateport City, and continued to battle trainers. After reaching Slateport City, I immediately traveled north and grinded levels for my team. During this time, Dark Pretzel evolved into a Mightyena and Rocky Road evolved into a Loudred! I also caught a first encounter Electrike, which I added to my team and nicknamed it Banana to keep the ice cream naming scheme.
After being sufficiently leveled up enough, I continued north towards Mauville City, battling trainers and taking on my rivals in both May and Wally. I challenged Wattson to a gym battle and won! It was quite easy thanks to Blue Moon's Ground type moves.
When I next play I'll be heading towards Lavaridge Town, site of the fourth Hoenn gym badge!
Also wanted to use this opportunity to say that I finished the Pokemon Ultimate Journeys series and Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: To Be A Pokemon Master! Now I can finally start watching Pokemon Horizons, and based on the things I've heard, I'm super looking forward to it!

I finished exploring Mauville City and the surrounding routes, connected the cave next to Verdanturf Town, and then set off north towards Fallarbor Town in order to continue the story. Defeated Team Aqua and Archie at Mt. Chimney, and then went south and finally made it to Lavaridge Town. I went ahead and challenged the gym and swept through it easily thanks to my starter, Blue Moon. Flannery was a piece of cake to defeat. I also obtained a good amount of new catches during this time, which I'm happy about.
When I next play I'm going to be doing some special level grinding in order to prepare for my fifth gym battle with Norman in Petalburg City!

So ngl, I scrapped the above run because I just wasn't feeling it, and INSTEAD started a Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke with a friend of mine. What that basically means is that each Pokemon we catch in an area is linked to the other Pokemon caught from the same area in each of our games. And just like Nuzlocke rules go, if one of those Pokemon faints, the linked one in the other person's game is automatically dead. The randomizer part means that every encounter and battle has Pokemon randomized to pretty much anything, including the delta Pokemon in the game that have different designs and types (for reference Pokemon Insurgence is a fan-made game that came out years ago).
My friend and I's run is going well so far, though we have had some deaths. I lost a Reuniclus, Sandslash, and Croconaw, and my friend has lost some Pokemon as well. Here's my current team:
Consists of Scrafty, Delta Lucario (which is a Dark type), Spiritomb, Golbat, and Delta Girafarig (which is a Steel and Poison type). We just finished defeating the first gym leader in Suntouched City and are well on our way to the second city to face off against the second gym leader. Wish us luck!
Update on my friend and I's Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke!
As you can see from the image above, a LOT happened since last time and some of my Pokemon evolved and died. Cowboy's counterpart on my friend's side, Delta Aggron, ended up getting hit by an Earthquake and fainted, so Cowboy is automatically dead as well (I played "Should Have Been a Cowboy" by Toby Keith for his funeral song ). Thundervolt evolved into a Crobat, I caught an Eelektross, and Delta Axew hatched from an egg, which is now a Delta Haxorus. Also found the Delta Lucarionite for Anubis! Even though I still need the Mega Ring in order to be able to mega evolve him in battle.
We both defeated Xavier earlier and it was easy for my friend and somewhat difficult for me. Anubis had to face off against a Mega Garchomp thanks to randomization, but survived at 5 HP and came in clutch with using Copycat, which turned into Dragon Claw and finished off Mega Garchomp!
Now I'm continuing to get encounters and head towards the site of the third gym badge. There's apparently going to be more story on the way there, so I'm looking forward to experiencing it.
Not a completely update on my Heartgold nuzlocke, more of a showing how much training I havta do before I get really get down to business XD
I left a lot of my pokemon at really low levels, and despite not always using the pokemon I've shown before, it would be really beneficial to get them to a higher level as I could get.
Quilava - LV 33, definitely need to level him up and evolve when I can.
Raticate - LV 25
Natu - LV 24, literally has no fighting moves omg
Gengar - LV 28, Tis a shame I haven't used him as much as I had used before but hopefully the more I level up, the more better he be.
Tarous - LV 24
Golem - LV 31
Togekiss - LV 25
Magnezone - LV 36, just need to get you into your level 40's and you'll be perfect. There's quite a few water pokemon in the last gym.
Nidorino - LV 27, definitely wanna focus more on this guy before I evolve him!
Crobat - LV 25, Another Pokemon I haven't used in a bit ;_:
Umbreon - LV 24, I was silly and didn't get Bite before evolving.
Gliscor - LV 28, slowly training him a bit as well! Never got to use one before!
Alakazam - LV 32, again another level 40's I need.
Gewgong - LV34, One I desperately hope I can level up a lot and espically to get that special ice beam at level 47. Ma Seal gonna be the top dog against the gym leader!
Beedrill - LV 23
Heracross - LV 27, kinda wish this guy had more cooler moves throughout his levels.
Rhyhorn - LV 30, another beast I want levelled up!
Bellossom - LV 35, I actually want her for the gym as well, as backup~
Quagsire - LV 40, just one more level buddy, and you'll be perfect!
Krabby - LV 24
Noctowl - LV 22, this birb is killing me here.
Koffing - LV 21, another one killing me as I try and level it up.
I also haven't used ANY of my TMs moves and I feel, I definitely will plan to at some point. I am currently levelling some of them up against wild stantler, its a pain, but what needs to be done.
Update on my friend and I's Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke!
A LOT happened since last time, so I'll just go over everything briefly. My friend and I made it to Helios City and challenged the third gym there. However, a Vigoroth's Counter took out Crafty in one hit, and my friend's Rayquaza got killed by a critical hit Outrage from a Kangahskan, so my Landorus I caught is automatically dead. After we finished the third gym, I made it to the next town. Challenged rival Nora to battle and that's when disaster struck.
The game randomized her mega to Mega Gyarados, and the thing walled my team and killed absolutely everyone. I ended up blacking out. However, my friend and I implemented a rule for the Nuzlocke. Given the higher difficulty of Insurgence compared to most Pokemon games, we each get three strikes of blacking out. That was my first strike. If I blackout two more times in the game then my challenge is over, and my friend's is as well. Thankfully I didn't save after that, so I was able to challenge Damian instead and took out his Mega Mewtwo X using Mega Spiritomb.
Made it to Sonata City and got some new encounters, and challenged the gym. Won easily thanks to my Eelektross and Virizion. Up next my friend and I will be heading towards Kepler City, site of the 5th Torren region gym badge!
(forgot to mention I also caught a Suicune with a Master Ball I found, lol)
Update on my friend and I's Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke!
Not too much happened since last time, but basically we went towards Kepler City. Made it there in one piece and then entered the Abyssal Cult's base and challenged Audrey to battle. Audrey sent out a Mega Blaziken, which could have been super bad for me, but my Suicune took care of it. Then we challenged the gym leader, Anastasia, to battle. I was able to win pretty easily against her for my fifth gym badge. After that we did the Taen battle, and I was able to defeat Taen and take out their Mega Meganium using my Crobat.
When we next play we'll be heading towards where the 6th gym badge is located. Until then!
Update on my friend and I's Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke!
Continued heading towards Selene City, site of the sixth Torren region gym badge. Before I made it there, however, a Delta Pokemon with Destiny Bond killed my Crobat, Thundervolt. However, I got a bunch of new encounters and was finally ready to take on the gym.
The gym was a cakewalk essentially, and the gym leader... was not smart. She ended up using Mega Kangaskhan against my Virizion and used SUCKER PUNCH of all moves, which not only wasn't very effective, but activated Virizion's ability, Justified, which raised its attack by not one, but TWO stages thanks to MEGA KANGASKHAN'S ABILITY.
Because of this I was able to easily sweep the rest of her team. I went a bit farther and got more encounters, and then... it happened. In mission 5 back at Suntouched City I encountered a SHINY MAGIKARP, which is now a Shiny Gyarados that can mega evolve upon command. I'm going to have some fun Rain Dance hijinks with it and Suicune for sure. > : ]
When we next play, my friend and I will be heading towards Amphitrite City, site of the seventh Torren region gym badge!
Update on my friend and I's Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke!
Continued heading towards Amphitrite City, but had to backtrack and get an encounter at the tower connected to Selene City because I found out that my friend had encountered something there and caught it, but I hadn't. AND THAT'S WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE LEGENDARY SWORD OF JUSTICE COBALION APPEARED! : D
I quickly whittled its health to just above fainting, and threw many Ultra Balls at it, until I finally caught it! Nicknamed him Cobalt. Then I made it to Amphitrite City finally, leveled up my team more using the Audino trainer, and EV trained my Shiny Mega Gyarados and Cobalion. Challenged the gym and was able to win easily thanks to my beefed up team, and the fact that the rain status benefited me more than the gym leader.
When my friend and I next play, we'll be heading towards the 8th and final gym, which is... in another dimension?!?
Update on my friend and I's Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke!
Continued heading towards the 8th gym in Erebus City of another dimension. Suicune unfortunately got taken out by a Gengar's Destiny Bond because it was too fast for my team. HOWEVER, once in the dream world I managed to catch a Darkrai in the Hidden Grotto, and on my last chance too, which was A-MAZING.
Trained it up and made it to Erebus City, and took on the 8th gym leader, Adam. The battle wasn't too bad and I ended up winning my 8th gym badge! As did my friend. When we next play we'll be heading towards the Torren Region Elite Four and Champion! Until then, stay tuned!
I put the Pokemon Insurgence Soul Link Nuzlocke on pause for now while I play other games, so the final update for that will come later, BUT I just started a brand new Pokemon Violet Wonderlocke since I started one a couple years ago, but never finished it. It's going great so far as Sprigatito is my starter and my very first trade was a Quaxly, which compliments my starter well. Hoping for more luck with the trades, but we'll see how it goes down. I'm holding myself to the same rules as before, which means I can only use 21 catchable Pokemon for the game, 3 to start with (including my starter), and 18 after that, one after every badge obtained in the game. I'll report back here again once I earn my first badge. Wish me luck in the epic conclusion of my Insurgence Nuzlocke and Violet Wonderlocke!
Update on my Pokemon Violet Wonderlocke challenge! A lot happened since last time. Quaxly evolved into a Quaxwell, and I traded for a Granbull from Pokemon GO from someone. Unfortunately, however, while fighting the gym leader Katy, she took out Quaxwell with a critical hit Fury Cutter, killing it. So that bumped me down to 20 usable Pokemon for the game from 21. However, it's darkest before the dawn because my 4th usable Pokemon from trading ended up being a SHINY Quaxly, and because shiny clause supercedes dupes clause, I can now use that line again, but in shiny form! It's also Adamant nature and has the HA Moxie. I'm so excited to continue this challenge now!
Update on my Pokemon Violet Wonderlocke challenge! A lot happened since last time. I headed east towards where the Titan Klawf was, and prepared to take it on. While there during the night I encountered and caught a shiny Shuppet, which I named Joker and he will serve as my Titan Klawf badge catch. Trained everyone up some more and Deku evolved into a Floragato. Took on the Titan Klawf and won easily thanks to Deku, and Dreamy the shiny Quaxly evolved into a Quaxwell. I'll post another update once I get my third badge and next trade encounter!
Update on my Pokemon Violet Wonderlocke challenge! Not too much happened since last time. While I was battling trainers in preparation for the Artazon Gym, however, Deku the Floragato got hit by a Riolu's Counter and fainted. I should have been more smart there and either Terastallized or switched out, but it's not a huge loss for me considering I didn't super love that Floragato's nature anyway.
Took on the Artazon Gym and won easily thanks to my Granbull and Fire Fang. I then wonder traded for another badge trade and got Wingull, which... is far from good considering I already have a Water type on my team, but I'll still raise it up and use it anyway.
When I next play I'll be preparing to take on the next leveled badge, which I believe is the Bombirdier Titan Pokemon. Until then!
Update on my Pokemon Violet Wonderlocke challenge! I challenged some trainers to battle in preparation to face the Titan Bombirdier. On the way towards it I encountered and caught a shiny GASTLY, which will serve as my Titan Bombirdier badge catch/trade. Took on the Titan Pokemon and won, due in large part to Granbull and Thunder Fang. When I next play I'll be taking on the next leveled badge, which is the Team Star Dark Crew. Until then!
I took a long break when it came to actually training my Pokemon. Since a lot of my Pokemon were under levelled, and some still are; I took my own pace trying to train in between everything going on.
…And also how much I fear the last gym…
And now, as I am writing this, I should’ve levelled up Gengar instead; just to stay clear of any hyper beams, but it’s done now.
The main Pokemon I wanted to level up were Dewgong, Bellossom and Magneton. Dewgong especially, and I almost wanted to try and grind it to Level 47 for Ice Beam; but gawd, I am mentally tired of all of this training and wanted something in the plot to happen.
For the longest time, preparing for this match, I was just going to full attack ahead, but I then realised Nidorino learns Toxic Spikes, and it got me thinking of a strategy.
I plan to have Nidorino at the front of the party, and use Toxic Spikes; quickly swap out to someone else. So, then the rival team will have to deal with poison.
I even thought about evolving Nidorino, but a smart lil’ voice in my head said ‘Ground type’
I think what makes this gym even more unique and uncertain, is that it is so unsafe to have your Pokemon out and about walking with you; you are alone.
Without further ado, let’s get this Gym battle started.
As said above, I sent out Yaeko, and she sent out her Gyarados.
Her gyarados instantly uses Dragon Rage, and Yaeko throws some toxic spikes over their side. So, I quickly swapped with Masami and Gyarados is angry enough to use Dragon Rage again.
And again…Masami then used Discharge that kills Gyarados. Frustratingly enough, Masami only had 37HP left, and had hoped to use them later on :/
Clair decides to bring out one of her Dragonair’s, and I bring out Dewgong. Now, I know one of them has a fire blast move; hence why I want them out gone real soon.
Dragonair gets poisoned.
Dewgong is quicker and uses Aurora Beam. Dewgong gets paralysed, and just for that, Dragonair is killed by their poison.
She brings out her other Dragonair, and I decide to keep Dewgong in battle.
Another poisoned Dragonair.
Her Dragonair uses Dragon Pulse, and I have Dewgong use avalanche, killing it in one move.
Now it’s time to decide what to do with her Kingdra.
I did have an idea where I would use Bellossom, before switching out to Masami; but because my Magneton is low on health, I think the best option would be to keep Dewgong in battle once more.
Reason being is that Dewgong will be slower, and avalanche will do more. Because I know she will want to hurt me. And I think being Ice/Water can be beneficial here.
Kindgra is poisoned
Uses smokescreen. Not what I was hoping for. She gets hurt by the poison but eats her berry.
Kingdra uses Dragon Pulse, and Dewgong uses avalanche once more. Getting her in the red, and sadly the poison didn't finish her off. DX
From the gym leader's point of view here.
I can imagine she might either use her full restore or hyper potion, probably full restore due to the poison.
I use a hyper potion, and she uses her hyper potion also?? Strange she didn't use her full restore. Because now Kingdra still took poison damage.
Smokescreen once again. Dewgong was too paralysed to even attempt an avalanche. Dragon Pulse. Paralysis again. And Kingdra is poisoned. I decided to use a paralyse heal because it's stupid. Kingdra uses Dragon Pulse again. Gets poisoned. I use another hyper potion. Another Dragon Pulse. Poisoned, Dragon pulse! And finally another avalanche ending Kingdra!!

----------------------------------------
As promised to my Nidorino, I decided to evolve him into a NidoKING once we finished the battle.
I believe we have to go to the Dragons den, so I grabbed my Krabby, and left one area in my party open.
After fighting that one trainer in the den we can focus on more important situations.
As someone using a Japanese game, I had to make sure I was actually picking the right answers XD As much as I learnt from my japanese lessons, I still need more time.
Claire comes over and is super shocked that I know Japanese, and I'm just patiently waiting for my last gym badge from her.
Dragon Den: Dratini (Kaida) Female
Getting a call from Professor Elm, and being gifted the Master Ball, I headed back to Ecruteak City to challenge some kimono girls.
I bump into my rival, and no matter how many times Im telling myself he won't fight you here, I still sweat when I see him. After he mentions he’d rather not see us win (I call that a compliment) I go into the building to face them off!
Out comes her Umbreon, and out comes my Nidoking!
Nidoking uses double kick, and of course Umbreon starts out with a confuse ray :’)
My pokemon gets hurt in confusion as Umbreon uses dark pulse. Finally I get a horn attack and I get another dark pulse for the trouble.
So, I give Nidoking a hyper potion, and Nidoking gets another dark pulse to the face. I try an use double kick again, but Nidoking is too confused, and gets hurt again.
I use another hyper potion, and like magic, Umbreon uses dark pulse. Finally, Nidoking focuses again, and use double kick,it gets Umbreon in the red, so one more horn attack and Umbreon is down!
…..Okay, I didn’t realise the battles are continuous; stopping me from swapping party members……fantastic
The next kimono brings out Espeon, and I switch out to Bellossom.
Espeon uses psychic, and Bellossom uses acid. That psychic was a bit harsh, so to be careful I used a hyper potion, while Espeon uses swift.
Another psychic and my Pokemon uses mega drain.
I use a super potion just to be sure, another physic and Bellossom uses mega drain again AND OWNS THAT ESPEON LET’S GO!!
This Kimono brings out Flareon, and I switch to Quagsire. A willow o wisp attack.
Flareon uses fire blast, and Quagsire ends it with Earthquake.
And this little Kimono uses Jolteon, and I switch back to Quagsire despite it’s damage.
Jolteon seems to like double team, shouldn’t matter with Quagsure’s earthquake….didn’t kill it though
Another double team, I think Earthquake missed, and I yeet a hyper potion to Quagsire.
Several double teams later, Quagsire was able to kill it off with Earthquake.
And this little kimono sends out a Vaporeon (0-0’ < - - - - Future Giddy here, I Hate this thing with a passion.)
Switches to Magneton, lol.
Vapereon uses aurora beam, and Magneton uses discharge and gets it in the red.
Vapereon uses surf……………………….Magneton faints……………..
THAT REALLY BLOODY HURT OMG
I couldn’t use Bellossom here because she was hurt, and Vaperon has an ice attack anyways, but I never realised how bad water can be to steel type; I knew this and yet made the type chart make me feel less worried. I SHOULD’VE BEEN WORRIED.
I bring out Dewgong and use aurora beam x2 to kill it.
Honestly, out of my dead Pokemon, this one really hurt.
Magneton was a Pokemon I got not even a route after this city, and they were so incredibly useful for my team. Oneof my longest Pokemon in the party. R.I.P Masami. You were loved.
Not but for real, this nuzlocke doesn't want me having any electric Pokemon. Both Electrode and Flaffy died too!
Maybe if I didn't have to keep switching Nidoking out, maybe Magneton would've been fine.
-----------------------------
<insert puzzle bell tower and grabbing Ho-Oh here>
I decided my next plan of action was to catch pokemon that I haven't gotten in areas i have not explored yet.
For example whirl islands.
Whirl Islands: Horsea (Female) Yosei (I dunno why I find this so funny, worrying about fighting it at the gym and then finding the younger version so soon after.
Now, while I grab more pokemon before coming back here for any advice or what others may think would be good for the Pokemon league, I wanted to ask what people think of Primo's eggs? Is that okay? Is it frowned upon? (plan to hacth in areas I havent gotten Pokemon in. I also double checked everything to make sure the areas I was looking I didn't kill or anything; Slowpoke well is a mystery, so i will leave that alone)
I took a long break when it came to actually training my Pokemon. Since a lot of my Pokemon were under levelled, and some still are; I took my own pace trying to train in between everything going on.

Heyo! First of all, BIG CONGRATS on defeating Gym Leader Clair and the kimono girls! As for your question, as long as you haven't caught a first encounter in said area, I'm of the belief that hatching something there is fine, and that will count as your encounter for the area.
Best of luck with the Pokemon League!!!!! I'm going to have to go back and reread your journey from start to finish to be honest, because you put a lot of detail into it and it's super clear to me that you're having fun while still challenging yourself. Keep me posted on what happens next!!
