The potential of "new villagers added" to the ACNH and future collaboration

Does anyone feels, ACNH should have those? Or anyone have heard something regarding those matters?
I mean, ACNL got a collaboration with Sanrio. I feel due to the popularity and success of ACNH. we should get a collab.. no.. COLLABS..
and if you guys could wish for, whom should ACNH collaborate with?

also I just found out that ACNL got 100 new villagers when the game released, while ACNH just got 8. that's not even 1/10 new villagers
added from previous generation. And I think in this era we usually get patch and DLC and stuffs, do you guys think we might get some villagers in near future?
I really hope we could get some new villagers. Since they do need more new villagers to release amiibo series 5 hahahaha...
I would love to get a cute looking smug cub..... cool looking smug tiger, cool looking smug wolf...........

i’m not sure how likely this is to happen but i’d love for new villagers to be introduced or even older ones making a comeback! i wouldn’t expect this anytime soon, though, as nintendo is likey focused on adding in npcs and events ;u;

Since this is my first AC game, all the villagers are new to me, but it definitely seems strange for the game to launch with only 8 new villagers for people to hunt for. Fingers crossed that they introduce more in the not-too-distant future!

SAME. I was so excited for all the new villagers we would be getting after 8 years and then we got.....two purple bears? Out of 8 total? I don’t hate all the new ones (Sherb, Reneigh, and Dom are okay) but they’re all clearly designed to fit that super cute popular aesthetic—Dom is a cute Jock for those who want more personalities while keeping everything fluffy and pastel, Raymond is clearly fan bait, Sherb is again cute and pastel, Judy.....etc. There’s nothing wrong with that, it just makes me a little bummed that it seems like Nintendo is way more interested in capitalizing off one particular style than developing a robust list of new villagers with a wide variety of aesthetics and personalities and species.

totally vibe with this. the pastels don't work with my island aesthetics so i don't intend to invite them, even if they are technically super cute haha. the strategic moves nintendo made makes sense but it's definitely a different trajectory & vibe from past AC games. i wouldn't be surprised if part of this effort to release things in updates is to test new things, see how they perform, and then capitalize off of what works best. i can't really fault them for it, but like give us some weird and unique villagers pls.

I personally think that Nintendo has other more pressing updates to make on the game than adding new villagers... like adding everything back from previous games that's missing in this one, such as Katrina and fortune telling or Brewster and the Roost, or improving existing villager dialogue. To me, there's no point in adding a bunch of new villagers if they will have the same basic dialogue that the villagers in this game too - they say similar things as the other villagers because there's so little unique dialogue, but look different. That being said, they could absolutely multi-task and release a few new villagers with every new update rather than doing a big villager drop! I think that would actually be a bit more fun, to get to know a few new faces instead of having so many at once.

In terms of collaborations, I think that will mostly depend on what kind of brand deals Nintendo is able to make with other companies. I can see special Amiibo cards or something similar being the way they do it, as it's a great money-making opportunity for them. Obviously, partnering with other Nintendo titles would make the most sense (like a Princess Peach style villager or something!) but they've had the partnership with Sanrio before so that could work again? I think that whatever 'new' villagers are added won't be all new villagers, but rather, updated villagers from the Amiibo selection or updated villagers that used to be in previous titles but aren't in the same anymore.

i agree with mayortiffany that some other things should be prioritized over new villagers, but i wouldnt be opposed to them. i dont know how id feel about collaboration villagers. though the sanrio villagers are cute, i never liked how they just seemed to clash with the game for me. i would rather new villagers be original to the game series rather than joe from crossing animals made into a villager for animal crossing.

I agree there's other priorities. 400+ villagers is more than enough for me... already having a hard time choosing just 10. I care more about the items they may bring (like the welcome amiibo cards.) I would love to see the Sanrio items and characters make a comeback. I need Etoile and the Kiki and Lala set! Sad that those amiibos aren't part of the game.

Pokemon and Mario items would be okay, but don't care for Splatoon (sorry to any fans.) A Kirby crossover might be cute!

I have a feeling that the Sanrio villagers will be making a comeback at some point since their posters are available in-game.
As for other collabs, I really wouldn't know. I wasn't the biggest fan of some of the other amiibo villager crossovers.
I think Felyne was cool but the others had that look of "create your own villager" in my opinion.
I wouldn't mind Sumikko gurashi, Rilakkuma and other San-X character collabs... maybe even Sailor Moon or other anime-themed ones - just not sure how realistic that would be and how the licensing would work.

I hope it is okay for me to post here again, since I was actually thinking of making another thread but found this.

If Bravest Warriors weren’t for a mature audience or if it was about Catbug only, I’d love to have a collab with them and get Catbug and Impossibear as new villagers.

I’d also like Epona to return since I never got to see her in NL and don’t have the amiibo. I’m not a Zelda fan but I loved Epona’s design.

Bub from Bubble Bobble. We have Dodo birds as npcs so why not a dinosaur?

I also would like an actual dragon looking villager (not a crocodile that looks nothing hardly like one) or a Phoenix (with firey glowing effects since I don’t think Phoebe looks like a phoenix :/).
