The Self-Care Check

this is a lovely thread idea! i’ve been meaning to post but keep forgetting. xD

today, i tidied my room a bit, attended my night school class (online) and showered + shaved! looking forward to entering the weekend clean and not having to fret about anything academic! ☺️
 
Today, I:
-Arranged plans to go to Hot Topic with a friend who hasn't been there along with another friend tomorrow. It'll be nice seeing one of them since it's been forever.
-Found an absolute bop to add to my MP3 Player.
-Beat World 7 with all star coins collected on New Super Mario Bros. U.
-Finally started watching a show I haven't seen in years (that I love)
-Hung out with my family and played monopoly while doing karaoke. It was... an experience.
Overall just did some things that made me happy. =))
 
i had a really sad and stressful night so im just taking it easy and doing some skin care treats

-Cut off a few guys who have expressed interest in me as I realized I'm not ready for a relationship and I know they do not want just a friendship

this is the best kind of thread!

im pretty good at taking care of myself naturally now that I think about it. I studied quite a lot today and at the end of the day I treated myself to fancy expensive food. i feel it was pretty worth it :p
 
I took a short break from work this morning to read a little bit. I only got through a couple of pages, but it was nice because I haven't had time to read in over a week.
 
What’s one thing you’ve done today to care for your well-being?

  • Set a timer and focus on deep breathing for 2 minutes
  • Name 5 things you’re thankful for
  • Take a long shower

My anxiety's been acting up since late this afternoon and I can't pinpoint any particular cause of it, so I've gotten myself some tea and now I'm just quietly working on some embroidery floss bracelets with some nice images called up on my computer. It seems to be helping a little, which I'm glad about.
 
I'm listening to music and put on some of my aromatherapy stress relief lotion (eucalyptus spearmint scented). and I'm about to take a shower
 
Currently listening to music while making a playlist for general vibes. I tend to make really sad playlists but I've never made a happy one, LOL. Also taking a break from Discord for a few hours. I tend to revolve around that app faaaar too much for my own good ;w;

About to list five things I'm thankful for;

- my friends always having my back and supporting me no matter what
- my family, my dad especially!
- being alive, sometimes life can get really tough, but I am overall thankful to be alive, LOL
- my comfort characters ;w; idk what i'd do without them, honestly !
- music!!!!!
 
This is a very good thread, and self care is so important so it's nice to read the things people have done for themselves. Y'all deserve it.

I'm trying to get better at the consistent self-care stuff. It's easy to let your resolve in these things falter but today I have:
- Sat out in the sunshine and watched the birds hopping about the branches of the big tree in our garden.

- Randomly had a "compliment-a-thon" with my mum where we would compliment each other and respond to those compliments with "thank-you" rather than try and counteract the compliment with self-deprecation. Sounds weird but it was actually really funny. I said my mums hair looked nice, and the colour suited her and she basically just went: 😐 "thanks" LOL. We aren't very good at taking compliments but we are trying to get better.

- I also painted my nail (singular). My nail polish never stays on and I usually just give up and leave it. Today I actually filled in the nail which had lost the polish with a shimmery gold kinda thing (the rest are a dark navy blue colour).

It has actually been a really good day today.
 
I cooked myself a nice meal. Showered, brushed my teeth, read, listened to music. And am now under my weighted blanket
