Did anyone else think that the squid we saw in the demo looked way to realistic for a cartoon game? I don't want the fish and bugs to look too real because it would look really offputting. I want a dynamic but cartoony style for them so it still feels like they belong in that world.

Well, taking that into consideration, some of the bugs, fish, paintings & statues, and even flowers look very much like their real world counter part. Plus, there might be new types of squids, so not all of them would look super detailed.

Plus, the graphics of the game aren't done. Maybe once the game is final, there will be a balance and more consistency between graphics.

It was a little realistic but I didn’t find it too weird nor did I think it looked too different from the overall graphic quality. Of course, they’d probably refine things and make it more consistent as they develop it more. That being said, if it is going to be more realistic, I fear catching butterflies because of my butterfly phobia T_T

Also, I found it hilarious that it was mr Nogami who was holding a squid out of all things lol XD

I thought even the fish in NL had a realistic look to them, so I think the squid's look was pretty on-point.

I agree. Thought it looked way too real, but it's just a beta so they still plenty of have time to finalize the graphics

Didn't bother me that much now to be honest. I mean, the paintings and statues for example in
New Leaf also looking pretty realistic compare to the style of AC. I don't mind it.

In the half-hour Treehouse segment a squid was shown. I didn't even notice how it looked, so no complaints here.

i actually really liked the squid, it was very smooth looking

the butterflies also fly more realistic but they look wack when flying(which hopefully should be better when the game releases)

I don't have a problem with it. They've been making fish, art, etc look quite realistic for a while. They do even in New Leaf.

Yeah the bugs and animals look quite realistic in contrast to the cartoony game itself. It's also been that way in AC:NL, and I really like it. I dunno, it gives a nice contrast, like the hyperrealistic drawings sometimes seen in spongebob
