For those who are unfamiliar:

The trolley is speeding out of control towards 5 people. You have the opportunity to pull the lever to divert it to the other track, but it will hit the person on the other track instead.
What do you do?

Automatically turn into Superman with no previous experience and stop the trolley of course. Option three. :lemon:

EDIT: Also, this thread just reminded me that trolleys existed. Lmao

If you pull the lever, you'd probably be blamed for killing the single person, even though it's less people dying. Why? It's how society works. Just like sometimes people who report a crime can be considered a suspect.

I know it sounds bad, but you're probably better off just walking away and letting someone else deal with the situation.

You'd get in trouble either way.

"Trouble with the Trolley Eh?"

Give this a like if you know what quote that's from.

Reminds me of The Good Place, the trolley problem was one of my favorite episodes.
Not knowing anything about either group of people/person, I guess the best option is the one that does the least harm, so pulling the lever would be best...or jump on the track because you can't live with the decision and hope your mangled body jams the track so you end up saving everyone.

And suddenly I feel like chidi.... regardless I'm all for the greater good but 5 deaths would male me feel more guilt that 1 soooo

Probably pull the lever. You'd feel awful for that person and their family, but at least you'd be saving the lives of 5 people.

Noooo...I hate psychological questions like these. I guess I would pull the lever so fewer people would die, but the whole situation changes if the one person was someone I knew, like a family member or a friend. If they were, I’d let the five people die. Am I an awful person?

erase that stupid picture and lead the train away earlier or just make it stop :| wtf m8

I will pull the lever and to save the 5 people and before it comes to the single person, i'll untie the rope and let him free. So I just saved 6 people then.

It would depend if any of those people were Donald Trump. I would let him get killed.

Your a demon, why on earth would you say that you would let him die. You wouldn't like if someone said that to you, so sush up about the Trump.

Oh no, it's one of these things. I chose the third, bizarre option. What I would do is put a rock on the rail in which the trolley would hit and end up falling over on it's side, barely hitting the five people. Badabing, badaboom. Everyone is alive.

I think were gonna need to do some trolley racing now. XD

pull the lever, throw some big object in front of the trolley so it doesn't hit the person, and untie them.

but if i HAD to choose one of the two, i'd pull the lever and let them die.

I would probably jump in front of the trolley because having such a decision on my hand like this make me suicidal.

My first instinct would be to pull the lever (that’s the answer I chose), but knowing these types of situations, there seems to always be a 3rd, and logical, option... I just don’t know what that would be :vv
