The things he says he'll do sound worrisome and I just hope he won't be able to get his plans through. I'm worried about the effect that could have, both nationally and globally..

The reason is not just Trump. It is the fact that he will be President with a Republican controlled congress. It is that there is a supreme court seat up for grabs, that he is an outspoken misogynist and the GOP wants to repeal Roe v Wade, it is that the GOP wants to overturn the ruling on same-sex marriage...

I'm not an idiot. I am aware he cannot act alone and isn't stupid enough to start a nuclear war. I am concerned about the sweeping conservative victory when they are putting the rights of myself and my friends at risk. Saying this is the end is a bit over dramatic I will admit, but there is a lot of damage that can be done and I have legitimate fears and concerns.

All of that being said... We will have midterm elections in 2 years, so it won't necessarily be so one sided for long.

In general though I do not trust Trump. His stances on many issues have been all over the place. It was the same problem I had with Romeny. I understand people's opinions change throughout time, but I just have no idea where he actually stands. The uncertainty is most concerning. (Well that and the fact that the KKK is literally holding a victory march 2 towns over... Oh NC... Sometimes I hate you...)

Also this thread has gotten a bit too dramatic and inflammatory for my taste so I am respectfully bowing out having expressed my concerns. All that remains is to wait and see what will happen.

One last comment before I leave. I did not say they were evil did I? Please do not put words in my mouth. I have many dear friends and family members who are Republican. I do not think they are evil or wrong because of that. I have concerns because I believe women have the right to decide what happens to their own bodies as I do not believe life begins at conception. People disagree and that is fine, but repealing Roe v Wade will not stop people from getting abortions. It will only make them get risky and unsafe abortions.

Did you know that if Roe v Wade didn't happen, the US population would be at 380 million people by today? I saw the stats of how many abortions occurred since Roe v Wade and added the number to the current US population. That's how high our country's population will be.

One of the good things that would happen under Trump is the repeal of the ACA. I don't think socialism should be enforced federally. Whether or not socialized medicine exists, it's hard for poor people to get healthcare. Without Obamacare, they can't afford it. With Obamacare, they're more likely gonna get rejected by doctors because their insurance won't pay well for the patient. So it's a lose-lose situation anyway. Not only that, but repealing the ACA also means shredding the contraceptive mandate and the employer insurance mandate, so Papa John's and Olive Garden may have full-time jobs available again as Hobby Lobby doesn't have to pay for any form of contraception. I'm pro-free market, and those regulations are a threat to the free-market system.

Trump could also help take care of the increasing problem with political correctness, safe spaces, trigger warnings, and no-platforms, but I don't know if he could.

Did you know that safe spaces exist so people can be comfortable with others with who they are? They don't do anything to harm anyone. Like it is a literal safe space. You can't take that away from anyone.
