This REALLY annoys me...

Roscoe must be very cute/popular, eh? Bella too... I wouldn't exactly say she was cute or popular. Drake is cute to me, he's popular. The rest of them fit well with my town... as I said my town was themed for cuteness. I got the game the day it came out in Australia! I know that! I'm just saying that the unknown ones like Pate have the same personality as Peanut and Agent S except no one wants her. Your just trying to explain my own point to me again. Pate isn't ugly, who cares what they look like. THEY ACT THE SAME. THEY JUST DON'T LOOK THE SAME! HOW ARE YOU NOT GOING TO ENJOY THE EXACT SAME PERSONALITY AS JULIAN BUT LOOKS DIFFERENT!
Look... I have to admit I don't mind the cute ones, and my town is themed for little cute bear things to prance around in meadows. Except, I still have the deathly horse Roscoe since I find him cute and adorable. With that, I need some other cute things to hang around so people won't think I'm making the next Aika village.

In the creepy towns he is. But that's not the point, you said it doesn't matter how they look like because they all act the same yet you later made a post that you would care if the villager was horrifying?

I agree with you. Although I really dislike Pate with a passion since CF, no idea why or how it started haha.
But anyway, when BonBon moved no one wanted her and that saddened me because she was really sweet.
 
If ugly villagers don't have anything more to offer in terms of dialogue, of course I'm going to pick the cuter ones. I'm missing out on exactly nothing and gaining aesthetic appeal. If your tastes are different, there's nothing wrong with that, but there's also nothing wrong with people whose tastes fit the majority. That's the great thing about subjectivity - no one is right or wrong. At the same time, though, I am really tired of bumping into Stitches when I go into dream towns. I recognize the little fart's house now.
 
I suppose people always get hung up on what they think are the 'cutest' villagers. I do like the popular ones, but you're right, the others don't even get a look in.
 
I know everyone isn't the same. I personally like having dream villagers. But I don't go paying millions of bells for them. I like when I stumble upon new villager plots, and campers in my site. I like experiencing all the different villagers that pass through my town even if it is just for a week or two. It makes bumping into my dreamies that much more exciting and worth the wait! Most of my dream villagers I've had in previous games, now I'm obtaining some villagers I never thought I'd click with, but I am and lots of them are growing on me.

When Rosie came into my campsite I decided to give her a chance because I've heard so many great things about her. I loved her in the Animal crossing movie as well. But I guess I'm just not into the peppy personality type. I didn't like Phoebe when she moved in and wanted her out right away but she's such a doll.

I'm so happy someone said this. I'm kind of sick of hearing about how it shouldn't matter what a villager looks like when all villagers have the exact same personality as the others in their category. Looks is the only thing that defines each one. And no one is "better" for liking Al better than Julian (example) or the other way around.
 
I'm new to Animal Crossing, NL is my first game, so excuse any ignorance in this post. The whole dreamie thing kinda confuses me, but... They do have differences in that they bring different furniture, right? That little white squirrel dude everyone's mad about has some sort of rare furniture set in his house, or so I heard. I figured that was one of the reasons why people wanted him so badly.

I kinda agree with the OP though, it's a bit sad that the AC community is dominated by a small set of pretty faces. I've got Bertha the blue hippo moving out soon and she was one of my first five. I checked the villager trade forum and nobody's ever gonna want Bertha (Even though I think she's pretty cool), so she'll just have to vanish into limbo.
 
I feel bad for everyone who has to get their villagers in the void, too. :( The only popular villagers I really like are Marshal and Merengue, and the others aren't as popular. Especially Papi and Hamphrey - they aren't the most popular, so that's why I see it as an advantage for me to get them when someone puts them up as a giveaway or for sale. The others I have are still considered popular, but they aren't the ones people are willing to pay 35 million Bells for, unless they really have to.
I had to send Shari to the void myself, but not really that no one wanted her. The person that wanted her offered 5 million Bells, and then they weren't online the entire day she was moving. :(
 
I have Tabby and she's ugly and I love her ^.^ I don't really like Merengue or Marina so there's that. So I don't understand the obsession but I do like Julian and Marshal. I didnt like Marshal at first but I talked to him in a friend's town and he is super cute!!
 
Personally i like marshall, but im not big on marina or zucker. In any case, dont get all defensive over this but i think if we dont like the "community", maybe we shouldnt be here. Im just saying complaining about something on a forum or so called "community" shouldnt be how we spend our free time. But thats just my opinion
 
Most if not all of my dreamies I've had in my old WW save files, and I'd love to have them back.
I mean Marshal is pretty cute and I do want him but I know it's never going to happen, at least Julian could help me get some of my old dreamies.

With the auction thing, I was in an auction for Bree last night and bid 110k, then someone bid 500k like really?
That's a little reckless, 500k for Bree? Don't get me wrong but Bree isn't that popular so he just wasted his bells in my opinion.
 
What can I say? People like cute and pretty. I wouldn't be caught dead adopting someone like Hippeaux, Barold, Pate, Tabby, etc. Even irl, people go by perfection and pretty faces. That's life.

Merengue was one of my starters. I didn't reset or anything. When I was introduced to villager trading, no one really liked her yet. But then suddenly she got really popular, I don't get it.

Personally, I think Sprinkle is under rated, no one ever talks about her.

People like what they like; humans are a diverse species for a reason. I don't know why people always blame things on fads simply because they themselves cannot comprehend why somebody would like a certain thing.

I only like watermelon, and don't really get why people would like other melons, but you don't see me judging others because of it. Just because something isn't your taste doesn't mean that it's impossible or "wrong" for someone else to like it. And it especially doesn't mean that someone only likes them because they're "popular".
 
Lots of my villagers are obscure, except Erik and maybe Lily. I have Curt and Pippy, both who are adorable, plus Rudy who I think is pretty darn awesome other than the fact who wont shut up about his thighs, Big Top, who I hated at first because he was fat and wore neon-green clothes but then he grew on me.
