Thoughts on Raymond?

I fell into the Raymond hype and went on the hunt for him as a "permanent" villager in my line-up; when I finally got him I was excited and told all my friends and had him for a really long time actually!
But once that star-struck effect wore off, and I had gotten to know the villager pool better and what I liked/was looking for in a villager, I found that he was just "meh" for me The cat villagers are just okay to me, so him being a cat wasn't doing anything for me, the "hipster" look I don't find all that charming, and smug's aren't at the top of my favorite personality list

Another thing that really bothered me was, of everyone I had, he was the one villager that wasn't there based solely on *my* choice, it was the hype influencing my choices; because of that I decided that he didn't fit my island and let him go for free

Replaced him with someone that I feel fits much better cause I want them there (O'Hare), and I feel my island "ecosystem" is in balance again lol

He's cute enough! A bit overrated for sure, but I also feel that people are unfairly ridiculed for liking him. Just because a character is popular doesn't mean people should be shamed because they like him.

I think he's okay. I can understand the draw for him but the amount of tickets? No way. I found him in my campsite or an island (not sure which) and took him since I had no smug on my island. His design is unique and nice but he's just like any other smug in terms of personality. Plus he doesn't fit my island's theme so he'll get the boot soon.

I had him on my island and I really liked him. Being a smug cat, he is purrfect for cat only islands since he's the only smug cat. I liked Raymond's different coloured eyes and office theme at first, but he ended not meshing well with my other themed villagers so I had to let him go.

I've had Raymond since shortly after the release of New Horizons(he was my very first camper)and he's become one of my favorite villagers.In hindsight I'm glad I got him so early in the game so I could figure out what he was all about before all the Raymondmania blew up.It's been a pleasure having him on my island.

Raymond is a permanent villager on my island. I absolutely love his eyes and smug personality, dialog wise he’s my go to villager to speak to daily.

he is cute, but i prefer some of the other cat villagers and other smug villagers. i really like o'hare and julian so i'd rather them over raymond

I think he's alright but like others have said definitely a bit overrated. But whatever floats your boat I guess

i mean he's Just A Guy like the rest of the smugs...it was very entertaining seeing social media ppl lose their minds over him before the newest amiibo cards came out though lol. poor raymond he will never live that down

i probably wouldn’t turn him away if I got him on an island or in the campsite, but I never got caught up in all the hype and wouldnt go out of my way to seek him out or spend a lot of money on him

I had Raymond last year, just to know firsthand what the fuss about him is all about. Took me hours and hundreds of tickets to get him.

He's got a cool design. Too anime trope-ish for my taste though. Personality-wise, I think Cranky is far more fitting than Smug for him. I know many people love him, but I just found him to be average. I love cats, but I like Keaton and Hans more than him.

I met him on a mystery island, and he was actually very cute. I thought about inviting him, just because he was cuter than I thought he would be, but I didn't (because I already had another villager in mind). I like his little office house too. It's quite cute.

He is a cute character and a great new addition, as are all new villagers but i think he was way overrated, i remember people selling him for 400NMT and people going crazy trying to get him. i was so confused at that as i just thought he was a normal cat with a ugly office house astethic which doesnt even look like a villager house.

I have him on my main island. Is he overrated? Absolutely! But he's been here almost since launch and I like his design anyway. Still, I'm glad the hype around him has died down. He's cute, but not spend-real-money-to-look-at cute.

He’s pretty cute, not my favorite smug, but fairly high up there as I am a bit picky about smug villagers. I don’t dislike him, and I did have him on my second island for a bit.

Can’t hold a candle to Rodney or Graham in my book, of course.

Some of the craze over him went a little far for me, but I try not to hold it against the villager or the people just trying to enjoy him.

I like Raymond and have had him in my town for a while. I didn’t go looking for him but he turned up on like my 5th island tour and whilst there are other villagers that I prefer if felt like an insult to the RNG gods to not take him home with me. He’s cute, I like to two different eyes but I wouldn’t say he’s the best in the game and I didn’t understand the hype round him. I’m not a fan of his frowny face and his house is pretty boring too.

I met Raymond on a mystery island but I had no room and couldn't get him to move in cause he wanted me to kick out Buck @themysterybidder would understand why I would never kick Buck out for anyone

Then I hadn't seen him again since which is a shame cause he is a cute looking kitty especially with the different coloured eyes.

I don't have much of an opinion
he's a neutral villager for me at best
I'm probably the only one who thinks the cats designs are bland and genetic and few to none really stand out to me
Raymond is far from being my favorite cat as I like Tangy, Tom and Katt and others better

Raymond's office aesthetic is nice and I like the smug personality that's about all the compliments I can give him
I've actually had Raymond before, at first it felt like it was fake and it was really weird having one of the fanbase's most desired villagers
after reading about people who got him and thought he would just be a random villager they would have and was planning on letting him go only to fall in love with him and keep him forever I thought I would fall under some spell that I couldn't resist him and he'd be permanent but honestly Raymond was a really forgettable villager I had once only to get his photo and let him leave

I'd appreciate not receiving a personal attack for not being obsessed with Raymond as I'm honestly a dog person...
