i tried looking at gamestop and target for some amiibo cards since hearing about them coming back now, but of course i already see them either not there or already sold out. ((thanks scalpers, may your souls rot in the deepest region of tartarus for all eternity! ))

do you guys have any tips for getting any? any places that might have them?

I don't know about this current wave, but years ago when they first came out, Toys R Us was my "secret" spot that nobody in my city seemed to think of. EB Games and Walmart were the main areas and therefore were empty. Toys R Us always had them.

You have to stay on top of release dates, there’s a thread on tbt that’s pretty good at being up to date. I pretty much just grab them whenever I can. I’ve also seen on tumbler people selling their duplicates and some of the people on there just want to help others and don’t sell them for too much, but I’m not sure how reliable it is for trades and things.

I bought mine off a local third-party merchant website, Carousell (it's kinda like ebay, but Singaporeans either meet up and exchange goods or mail them after the payment is made). You could try your luck on ebay or maybe even Amazon, see if there are any merchants selling bulks of them cards.

do you only check the shelves at target or do you ask the sales associate if they have any in stock? because I know at my local target they don’t stock the shelves, instead they keep it behind the counters to stop scalpers from buying the whole lot. the guy working there that day told me that when they first restocked someone came in and bought 14 cards so he took it upon himself to take the rest and put it behind the counter so it doesn’t happen again. they also limit 2 per person as well. other than that make sure you keep checking, the target app also shows if they have any in stock near you or you can be notified when they restock.

i used to work at target so i know a lot abt stuff like stock. the app can be pretty unreliable in terms of availability of specific variations of an item (in this case the different series). if u call ur local target and ask if they have any, they can put them on hold tor u. i’ve gotten most of mine by making drive up orders. some targets are locking them up in the cases where they keep consoles in the electronics section so check there if u havent.

theres definitely not a target wide limit bc i’ve bought over 12 at a time. it might be based on the store.

idk if that helps but i hope so. i cant say much abt other stores and policies lol

i asked about the cards last time i was there, and no such luck. they just said they didn't have any.

i'll consider asking ahead and hoping they might be able to hold some for me. unfortunate not all targets bother to try and stopscalpers...
