• Guest, can you feel the love in the air? Valentine's Week at The Bell Tree has begun with a new mini-event featuring four activities to enjoy -- new and returning collectibles are up for grabs! Dive in to the love here.

To my fellow indecisive and anxious ACNH fans, how do you stay productive?

Thank you! I think fall themed with yellow would be nice. I would be excited to see your island and villagers , when you said you've only switched three since launch that really interested me.
My island's dream is in my signature and you can see some pictures in my journal here. I made a new one for my 2.0 updates but I also have my early days documented in my old journal. I pretty much kept most of my original villagers like my first five and my other amiibo scans and got attached to them and I was also too lazy to switch them around even if I didn't like their exteriors. In the beginning, I made villager districts based around their house designs. So house designs that were very different were place in their own little area farther apart which I thought helped with the flow of the island. All my waiting with my villagers paid off though, and I was able to make things a little more cohesive with their exterior changes :D Sheep Villager's suggestion is also a great idea, doing a multi-themed island! You can easily separate areas with bridges and land masses.

I'm struggling so much with this myself, I'm just practicing mostly? Looking at how other people I admire do it, take it day by day. I work at it slowly, so it's not as daunting. I hope to some day have a beautiful cohesive island

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this thread. One of the reasons I didn't get the game until 5 months after release was the design aspect of the game... thinking I needed to have that skillset to be any good at it. But I liked New Leaf so much, I decided to give it a try anyway... super glad I did, even though the bouts of uncertainity came by every now and again
I've watched so much AC content on YouTube since launch and it's definitely a double-edged sword. You get lots of inspiration, but you also reach a point where the things you haven't figured out bug you so much that you can't appreciate what you've done right.
It's reassuring to read so many people that haven't gotten it together and are completely fine with that.
I think the only issue I've ever had with my island is the location of my airport. Everyone else with more room to work with always seem to have way better entrances :p but I think I finally got something together that works. It turns out all I was missing was symmetry, haha.

Essentially, we all need to figure out what works for us. And if something doesn't gel right away, it's ok to walk away for a bit and come back later.
