Today I Learned: New Horizons Edition

That villagers can actually be mean to each other ( in the end it turned out that they were only joking with each-other but I'm going to pretend I don't know that because it was more fun before I discovered that lol )

You know that OG villager who won't move away?

I've stumbled across the secret to get that villager off your island:
Recruit your other OG villager

The game then will give the chance for your stubborn OG villager to move since the other OG has been recruited.

Phoebe has been with me since the beginning - March 3, 2022. She finally decided to move on May 13th, 2024.

My other OG villager, Scoot, moved back after I finally found him on an island. Oh I missed this guy, welcome back to Builderdom, Scoot!

So apparently there is a conversation you can have with lazy villagers that involves pineapple on pizza, and how "moist" is a weird word to say. Why I haven't had this interaction at all with Bob on my own island at least once is beyond me.
Moist clowns is a pizza topping guys

EDIT: Unrelated, but I also found out that villagers that are celebrating a birthday on your island that also work at one of the HHP facilities get to take the day off. I'm not joking.

Lazy villagers have some of the most interesting conversations. And sometimes most disturbing.

I learned that in the bug section of the museum, the beetles gather on the large tree and form a circle around two other beetles who fight, until one of them goes away.

Isabelle can give out her daily announcements late at night, which I unknowingly became aware of when I continued the game after putting my Switch in sleep mode for...probably a day now T_T I'm not sure if this works for other hours, but I know I started playing at 12 in the morning. x_x

The default island tune theme seems to be randomized or something. Because the default island tune that I have is different from what I used to have on my first island.

I discovered today that the colour of your airport can determine which colour variation of Nook Mile items you get!

I was honestly shocked when I saw that blue rose wreaths can be sold for 20,000 bells. No wonder one of my friends has been crafting and selling them for a while...

Whaaa?!!! I'm just catching up in this thread. 20000?!

I used to sell picked blue roses for a good amount, but wow that's a lot.

Now i need to go see if i have the recipe for the blue rose wreath. If not, I'll definitely have to find one.

Probably been told before, but I saw on facebook group that while you're swimming, you can still use the emotions in the water and I did not know this XD

I'm unsure if it was a glitch or not, but if not, today I learned that dragonflies can rest on rocks. I'm pretty sure I saw a damselfly just pause and land on a rock.

I accidentally learned how to place an item on a table facing INWARD when you're outside. So say you have a 2x1 table and it's placed with the long side vertical and you want to place an item in the top space with the front of the item facing the front, stand next to the bottom space and face the top space in a diagonal. Then place the item and it should be facing you! It really helps if you put an item in the bottom space so that the game doesn't think you want to put the item there (can be random and you can take it out afterwards). I didn't know it was possible until today. I thought maybe I had glitched something but I found some Youtube videos about the technique. It also works on 2x2 sized tables as well, same technique just make sure that you're standing on the same side as where you want to place it.

For how much I like the deer villagers, I can't believe I literally just found out about this today. While I was looking at Zell art on Pinterest, I noticed that his ears are not the same color:

His fur markings are otherwise symmetrical for the most part. I wonder why they made it so his right ear isn't dark brown, but eh. It doesn't change my opinion that he's a pretty cool villager.
Not as cool as Lopez though

I learned that the gender or “style” you choose does literally nothing in the English version of the game (besides setting what the default character looks like), but in other languages with gender more integrated into the grammar, it does effect much more. I think that’s pretty interesting

For the most part, it just changes your default hairstyle (which can be changed right away) and clothes when starting out, and that’s it. It has no real effect if changed afterwards. Villagers will always refer to your character using gender-neutral pronouns (they, them, theirs) regardless of the style you choose. I honestly think it’s a better way of creating a player character these days compared to in the past when doing it with Rover/Kapp’n.

In fact, I believe the only times in New Horizons when he/him/his and she/her/hers are used is when animal villagers are described or referred to. Never for player characters.
