Tool Recipies

Maybe I’m just an idiot, but I can’t figure out how to get tool recipes for the axe and shovel.
I wasted 3K book miles on the 8 tool recipes thinking the flimsy ones would be there. But they aren’t. Anyone know?

I think you need to help out Tom Nook a bit more after the tutorial is completed to get the flimsy axe recipe, and I believe Blathers gives you the recipe for the flimsy shovel.
