It seems as though there are MANY people on here who are over the age of 16 and enjoy Animal Crossing while playing it with actual intensity. Love that Anyway, I am curious. How have other people you're age reacted to you playing Animal Crossing? (if you are well over the age range) I think it's perfectly fine, and it is super fun!
Well, I'm in my late 30's. That might make me one of the older, if not the oldest person, on this forum, ha, ha.
I love it. I wasn't even interested in returning to ACNL, but my husband bought it for me. He wanted me to keep him company as he played call of duty. It worked! Anyone I've told it to, including friends and work colleagues, just seem amused. No judgement as far as I can tell. Who knows what they are saying behind my back though...
I am in my 30's as well. I don't care really what others think about me playing. They know I am a kid at heart. My girls both played Wild world and city folk. So if they don't like it Meh. My family supports me until I buy 3 games lol.
I'm 20 and I think it's perfectly fine for any age to play it. c;
I grew up with Wild World, I was 12 or 13 when I got it.. so it's just been a part of me really.. My mum doesn't really know what I'm playing and my partner used to play New Leaf too. n_n
Ah ok! My mom always comments on how the 3DS is meant for children only. But videogames also help relieve stress ^.^ a much healthier option than becoming alcoholic or whatever
I'm in my late teens, but I'm not attending school, so I might not be the best one to ask.
Still, I can say that my immediate family (older siblings and parents) are not at all judgmental.
The best way to be accepted while playing the game is (I think) to explain the core values of the game to those friends or peers that are treating you badly - it's not just a "kid's game", it's a community simulator that offers the ability to build and interact with the world around you.
Lol I love that line! GENIUS! This is what I say "Do not be fooled by the colorful, happy animal faces and by the childish appearance. Underneath all of that cuteness is learning about the nifty stock market and missing deadlines"
My parents don't really care about me playing animal crossing cause they don't really even understand the concept of the game, but every once in a while my father will remark about how talking to animals in a fantasy world is stupid, and then my mom will say if you wanna be friends with a wolf go outside to the woods .I love it though and i don't care what they think my game hm!
haha! that was funny what your mom said, but still mean. Anyway, I just feell bad for many people, ESPECIALLY guys who are afraid of playing it often because of their reputation
I'm 20.
The other day, my mom asked : "What are you playing?" I answered : "Animal Crossing" and she said : "Oh you're stil playing to this?" since she knew I played it on Game Cube before. She didn't really bothered.
My father also used to play on GC version ^^
My friends know I'm a gamer (and are pretty much gamers themselves) so there's no much reaction.
I'm about 13, and I have had mixed reactions. My parents don't really care, my best friend also plays, and, oh yes, this one girl in school made fun of me for playing Animal Crossing. They really hate me. After that, it's turned into an inside joke between my friend and me (he witnessed it).
I am 30 years old as of last december and I have been playing AC since the gamecube version came out. I have been embarrassed to tell anyone but I have let it slip out a few times and all times everyone has pleasantly surprised me with positive responses!
My school allows us to use devices at certain times of the day (Between classes, during lunch, etc.), and my friends and I frequently bring our 3DSes. I sometimes bring New Leaf instead of Pokemon or Mario Kart, and I'm called gay, or other hurtful words because of it. But, I shake it off, because I know that there are people that still like me for who I am and not the games I play.
Ah ok, well I guess certain people turn their nose up to it. It is probably because I have very snooty and serious parents. The fact that I am in class with a lot of snooty, reputation obsessed kids as well. Which is weird, because it is an AP class .-. I just wanted to know how other AC gamers were. I was starting to believe something was wrong with me o.o I am getting REALLY into this game.

You guys are totally right! I guess I should stop caring what people think. It is SUCH a fun game! I have been playing ever since game-cube! Ehhh this brings back nostalgia from the old Animal Crossing wild world music >_>
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said kids in high school are more judgmental than adults. I would have been a little embarrassed about it when I was younger, but I'm in my twenties, now, and no one really cares. Making fun of someone for being childish is, in itself, a childish thing-- people tend to grow out of that and just enjoy what they like. c:
I am in my 30s as well. I use the game to basically relax. None of my friends judge me. One noted it was a way better way of decompressing at the end of the day then using beer. Yeah, couldnt agree more.
