I played WW in high school too, but it's not something I just tell people - not that I'm embarrassed, but since most of my friends didn't play video games it just doesn't come up in conversation.
I'm in college now and usually bring my 3DS along for some Streetpass tags, and ACNL often comes up as a "recently played" game for a lot of other students, so I guess it's not so weird to play that at my age.
As for my parents, my dad just hates it when I have fun period (kidding, he does like me studying more than playing, of course), and my mother likes it when I play these cutesy games more than when I play "violent" games anyway, so she doesn't complain when I have my 3DS out.
