I still use GIMP and I'm still a beginner but since I'm here and I see how much my signatures I posted here suck. I changed them and put some things worthwhile:

^^I'm now working on fancy text. This is a beginning prototype.^^

They're all nice. Now, just place the C4D's under the focal point, and smudge with the vine brush at 2.0 px spacing. Also, put the lighting layer at 60% opacity. This usually helps.

Hmm, well they're all wayyyyyy over-contrasted.

Check out some tuts on how to do lighting, focal point, depth, etc. ;]

You're a beginner? Very nice work, then. You need to try different styles - those all look similar and have a touch too much contrast, to me. Other than that, very promising indeed, I'm keeping an eye on your progress.
