Update 2.0 some doubts

Just straight to the point.

• What will happens with holidays/events? Can we expect they will be unlocked (forever) or will they be time locked as before?
• On the Harv’s Island we will have shops=trailers for some characters. What will happens, for example all of those characters will be not returning to our island any more? For example: Saharah, Leaf etc.
• If I noticed correctly, one of shops=trailers will be Redd’s – what about “secret beach” – will he be returning on rare basis as before, or not?

I can only speculate since none of those questions were answered in the direct.

That being said, I think that maybe the shops they run on Harv's island will be a more 'watered down' version of their Island visits. Redd has maybe only one or two pieces of art, and later if he visits your island he will have the typical amount he usually does. We also don't know how often the stock on Harv's island rotates-- Redd, Sahara, Kick's etc may only have a few items that are for sale the entire week instead of rotating daily like the Nooklings do. That way the island visits are still preferable. Again, just speculation.

like pinkfawn said, all we can really do is speculate at the moment - these details are one of those things where we just have to wait and see on the day. I would imagine that eventually all holidays would be unlocked, since the locking of them currently seems to be hand in hand with getting slight changes to the content and that's not going to go on forever. whether that's happening yet we can't really know. and then as for Harv's island, we also don't know if NPCs will be rotating in and out of there or if they permanently set up shop there instead of wandering our island. potentially the plaza will be a 'base' for them, but they continue to visit our island once a week just to branch out a bit and offer slightly different stock to what they keep on the plaza

I read that there will be a new phone app that tells us which visitor we have each day. As previously mentioned it appears they will have a more limited selection on Harvs island. Based on those things i think we will still see them on our island.
As for holidays I think after this year they will be unlocked. Nintendo has said these will be the last major free and paid updates and will only be supporting the game with small changes there after so it seems logical they would unlock them soon. I think it will be bug fixes and minor tweaks after that.

All we can do right now is speculate but since they said this will be the last major update then I guess it’s fair to deduce that the succeeding holidays and events will now be unlocked. As for the visiting characters I don’t really know how that will work out for Saharah, Kicks and Leif but I didn’t see Labelle there nor Flick and CJ, Celeste isn’t there and neither is Gulliver and ofc no KK so I’m guessing only the merchants (those who sell stuff) will set up shops in Harv’s island and we’ll still get plenty of visitors in our islands for everyday of the week maybe we’ll even see them more often now. As for Redd, his shop on Harv’s seem to only carry his raffle thingies and not his art stuff so I guess he’ll be at Harv’s whenever he’s not selling art but will still dock on the secret beach to sell art every so often.

They said last major free update. What they didn't say was "Last update" or "Last major update".

What they've said
* If there's a major update in the future, it won't be free
* if there's a free update in the future, it won't be major.

Major meaning v3.0.

Holidays will continue to roll out as they do now. Festivale for example might be v3.1.0.

Shop NPCs will continue to visit the island. This is because players cannot go to Harv's island online.

xx being a major release (eg. v1.0 vs v2.0)
yy = minor update (eg. v1.10 vs v1.11)
zz = patch (eg. 1.11.0 vs 1.11.1)

This is just speculation, too, but I think the visiting merchants will still come to our regular islands once every week or two. In the Direct, it showed that Redd had two different pieces of artwork for sale in Harv's and Harriet's Plaza, a statue and a painting, so I think he will still come in his boat and sell his regular stock of four art pieces and two pieces of furniture. At least I really hope so! I've played every day since launch, and one of my favorite things to do daily is to check out the daily visitor!

I personally am really glad Redd will have his raffle. I kept 5 of each of the flavors of the new food items (cotton candy, ice cream treat, boba drink) in my main character's storage and another 3 of each in my second character's storage. I really like having handheld food items, loved the ones in New Leaf, so I wanted to make sure I kept some on hand. Once I can confirm we can get them at any time, I can clear some of those out!

Not sure on holidays.... It's possible they'll keep them locked until the second anniversary and then just unlock them. If they do unlock them, I wonder if they'll add them back for 2020 and 2021? Or just leave those out and we'll only get access to 2022 holidays and beyond?

As @JKDOS mentioned, this isn’t the *last* update for ACNH, nor do I think any subsequent update will necessary be a simple holiday unlock— it is still possible that there will be new items and QoL changes, as we have seen throughout this year. Anything larger, like new NPCs or game mechanics, will very likely come via paid DLC, although I am skeptical that ACNH will see another DLC, at least until they announce they will no longer support the game and we‘ve entered endgame times, like what they did with New Leaf. At that point, I think we would get an update unlocking all holidays indefinitely, so that players could continue to play.

I just wanted to specify that the Mario Maker 2 updates ended on their "Last Major Update" so there's no certainty if we get new holidays or not.

To add to this, they confirmed no further paid DLC either after the Direct; not sure why they chose that wording in the Direct if they weren't planning any further major updates at all, but, them's the breaks.

That said, iirc, they also implied there would be support for a few years ... ? I don't think it's been quite long enough for this to be the point they unlock holidays for good.

I couldn't find any news in English, but the Japanese Nintendo page Topics details info on it. I took a screenshot of the smartphone app screen. It's for the Nook Link (NSO) app! On your real-life smartphone. Looks like it has a lot of info. It shows Gulliver as a visitor for November 10th, but it says "he was helped by KAI." I think we can see the daily visitor, too, though? The Turnips prices log will be so useful!!

In the direct you can see art outside Redd's camper. We can only see 1 statue and 1 painting so the going theory is that he will have a smaller inventory on Harv's island. But only time will tell
