villager sign keeps saying "i've moved out" for 3 days?

chief moved in and i haven't seen him once. every time i go to his house, the light are out and i can't go in. it just says "i've moved out." the sign was put on the door the day that he moved in.

how could he move in and then immediately move out? i've looked everywhere in my town and can't find him. i don't know what to do. is his plot bugged? he was a natural move-in, no amiibo. i didn't get him from anyone.

Did you scan him with Amiibo card? This sorta happened to me yesterday. Did the whole three day to scan him in thing, time traveling to April 1st to get him to agree then I set my clock back to March 30th. His house had a sign that said he was out playing or whatever but he wasn’t anywhere to be found and wasn’t on my map (there was a house, but his face wasn’t in it) so I time traveled to April 2nd and he was there

Not sure if this is sorta what you did, but maybe try that if so?

Yes, this is a bug that's happened to me and quite a few other people. From what I've heard from others it pretty much just goes away with time, can't guarantee that though due to the nature of bugs.

I would still report it to Nintendo if you can as it's obviously a glitch.

Do you time travel at all?
Since time traveling really isn't built into the game the same way as it was in New Leaf, I wonder if the game's internal clock gets confused.

yeah, but i haven't time traveled for the past few days til today. chief showed up yesterday in real time, and i let my town progress into today naturally. when i saw chief's sign saying that he moved out, i skipped a few days just to see if it was a glitch and he'd come out.

Yeah, there seem to be many glitches with villagers moving in and out.
At first it seemed to be only to do with amiibo villagers but now more people are experiencing other types as well.
Quite scary.

i contacted live support, basically all they told me was that they're forwarding my information to a different department and they'll contact me if there's any resolution or information.

has anyone else had this issue?
