Villager themes ideas

Although for the most part I just like to invite whichever Whichever villagers I like, in the long run I am thinking of having a themed group of villagers at least for one of my islands. I like so many villagers that it is really hard to narrow things down.

what villager themes do people have or like? Do theme the houses (for island decor aesthetic), the villagers themselves, or both?

I have seen a few threads like this on cottagecore, and would like to see different themes. But also interested in different takes on the cottagecore to make it more personal

But I feel there are a lot of different directions that one could go.

Hmmm, personally, I just kind of like mixing and matching with what I like My island and villagers have never really stuck to a theme.

However, as for your theme, while I am not familiar with Pippi canon, the Freckle Face island theme sounds adorable!

i currently (kinda) hace one and i love it. my current island is fairycore themed but i have a few villagers that don't really match just because i love them so much (muffy and genji) but i'd really love to do a kidcore themed island someday with matching villagers!

I personally adore the idea of a Lisa Frank island; I had lots of those stickers growing up.

My boyfriend was working towards an "all pink villagers" town.

i am usually embarrassingly meticulous about this game, and i tried once to have only-blue villagers, but i found it very difficult without tons of nmt and was too shy to use this site to get new villagers at the time.

i got as far as having:

-julian
-kody
-yuka
-pierce

OP, your lisa frank-themed residents list (and island) sounds awesome. i imagine the furniture is also very vibrant?

i love the blue villager island idea. I admit I have not thought through the mechanics of tracking down these specific villagers, esp the ones with no amiibo cards

And yes, I would love to just do a vibrant color explosion on my island! I think it would be so cheery and fun.

They both sound like great island themes. My main island has a penguin theme. I’m trying to get an all penguin island that will stay mostly in winter. So far I have 5 penguin villagers.

atm im going for villagers who have japanese themes (ex, greta, coco, genji, pekoe) because my island is an urban/rural japanese town. id love to have chrissy and francine ... but ... they will stick out like a sore thumb.

I don't have a theme since I usually kick out villagers once I get their pictures and feel like it's kind of a shame to stick to just a few out of the 400-ish villagers in the game.

I've been to a couple of islands with only small animals (cubs, hamsters, etc.) and they were really cute, though.

I just have the villagers I want. Themes are too restrictive.

The only limitations I have on my villagers is I need 1 of every personality at all times. And not having more than one of the same species where possible. But species I'm willing to be flexible on.

If I had a theme I don't think I would be able to have my favourite villagers on the same island as each other which would just suck!

So yeah, I think theming my villagers is a no go for my own preferences.

I initially planned to have a theme, by my permanent villagers are too varied and I don't want to restrict myself from having them. So I discarded the idea.

I haven't ever done a theme with my villagers and never plan to exactly. But I do think it'd be nice to have villagers that fit the season/holidays going on. I really wanted to get Gayle for Valentine's Day, but that never happened. And now that Easter will be coming up, I think it'd be nice to have Joey for a chick and Bunnie for a rabbit. And there are a few villagers I want for next Halloween. I managed to get Erik for this past Christmas (I still have him) which was great. I'm sure there are a few more that would fit really well for Christmas.

I never had a theme for the villagers on my island. I had 10 picked out at first but I quickly abandoned that to only have 5-7 forever villagers and now I'm back to a different list of 10 villagers I want.

I have too many favorites but I narrowed down to the ones I like the most with nice interior and exterior houses that fix the areas I'm decorating.

I guess Muir Wood's theme is...not quite cottagecore but natural(ish) villagers; you can see the full list in my signature but obviously some of them (like Dom, and to some extent Genji) are stretches just because I wanted them :')

Inverness is an all-cat island, and there are some other species that I feel like would be fun for mono-species, too.

Some other interesting ones:

• Food-theme villagers (Merengue, Tangy, Apple, Tia, Zucker, Chadder, Cherry, Frita, Ketchup, Mint, Pecan -- probably a lot more that I'm not thinking of, especially if you're a little mean and count ones like Angus, Patty, Pancetti, and Rasher)
• Eyebrow Squad (Buck, Hazel, Teddy, Admiral, Anchovy, Lyman, Pudge, Benjamin, Biff, Cyrano -- only the biggest of eyebrows will do)
• Seasonal houses? Not sure of these off the top of my head other than for the villagers I do have, but like how Deirdre and Poppy have very autumn-themed houses and Beau and Dom have very outdoors summery homes, while I think Erik / Sprinkle / some other penguins have very wintery homes -- you could probably do either all of one season or a couple of each, and then arrange them according to the season on your island.

I have a monotone sort of theme. My island consists of black and grey villagers. I picked all the villagers that don’t necessary have a happy face. Also made sure that their houses fit in in town color wise. I prefer if they have darker house colors. My theme is Gloomy. Shabby chic.

Omg I love the eyebrow squad! What a fun idea! They would be so expressive!

I have toyed with having an island of piggy nose villagers, because of my love of such cuties as Tabby and Graham. Still might do that (but will
Still probably never get rid of Genji and Bangle - sometimes the theme has to bend for love )

I have considered at least temporarily having all one species islands too, with species including pigs, bears, dogs, and hamsters (+2 because not enough hamsters unfortunately!)

and aww I love your natural island villagers - and that you bent your definition to include villagers you just love! I should change the title of the thread. Everyone has such a different interpretation of cottagecore and I just love hearing should people’s villagers.

I thought about doing a black and white villagers island, just cause so many of my favorites fit (Genji, Agnes, Cole, Flurry) then I expanded it slightly in a way that only made sense to me and was like ‘well plus jungle/ natural colors’ so I could include Bangle, Tabby, and Ike....haha - they do look good together!

the gloomy theme is really great, and I love the idea of getting villagers with unhappy faces to fit your theme.

Perhaps for the next one it will be something like that, it's such a brilliant idea.

I don't have any themed villagers - my island is a very tropicore island but i have a certain set of villagers i've been riding with since GameCube days so I just stick to it lol however on New Leaf i did have some different towns so I'll probably do that again to get the other villagers I want.

My biggest drawback from doing that is the villagers look so vibrant and beautiful then their houses look the opposite lol

I don't have a villager theme on my island, currently my island has 7 permanent villagers and then 3 villagers that I often change around as I'm working towards getting a photo from all the villagers I like best in the game. I'm not sure yet which ones will be the 3 to make up the final line up but my 7 permanent ones are too varied to follow a theme. However I have considered following a villager theme if I ever wanted to have a big change to my villager line up or if I had a second island.

Some I've considered:

Wolf Island
This is probably the only animal species in the game that I could fill a whole island with, my biggest problem would be which of the wolves to leave behind but it would probably be a cranky as that's the most common personality in the wolves.

Cat and Dog Island
In honour of all the cats and dogs I've had growing up: Raymond, Lolly, Rosie, Kiki, Mitzi, Portia, Bea, Goldie, Cookie, Daisy

Blue Villager Island
Villagers chosen based on my favourite colour: Sherb, Skye, Lolly, Sprinkle, Bluebear, Filbert, Wolfgang, Bruce, Poncho, Dizzy

Nature/Log Cabin House Island
If I re decorated my island to a full nature theme I'd probably pick 10 villagers that have the log cabin looking exteriors and/or have the nature hobby: Molly, Erik, Beau, Murphy, Bill, Sydney, Fauna, Bea, Olive, Ellie

When I first started, I wanted a medieval theme island with:

Sterling
Knox
Colton
Phoebe
Drago
Julian
Hamlet

...and 3 other villagers. But then I ended up not wanting to let Cherry, Claude, Audie and Judy go. Plus I still haven't found anyone on that list to adopt, so... Yeah. Maybe I will find them eventually, but if not, I'm okay having no real theme.
