Villager trading glitch

saw someone saying on tumblr they invited molly from someones town who tt's and because they weren't on the same date, this caused mollys new plot to glitch and just negate anyone from moving into this...is this a confirmed issue?

Yes, and it’s becoming increasingly common. I’m guessing that when mom-TTers hit 10 villagers and start trading, 25% of the population will be affected. There’s a “fix” that a player found (you open a second plot, invite a mystery islander to your island, it glitches even more, then you get the mystery islander to move out and its fixed) but it DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE. Furthermore, even if the fix does work, if you get the glitch once, you will get it EVERY TIME you bring in a “traded” villager from someone else’s town.

do NOT adopt a villager from someone who forced it out using an amiibo. most of the time it will result in this glitch, regardless of whether you time travel or not. i was doing some researching and this bug is becoming very popular. i would personally recommend only adopting villagers who decide to move out, rather than forced out by amiibo.

The only sure fire way to prevent it is to not move in another person’s villager in boxes. There’s a community on the ACNH subreddit’s server testing out what causes it, and whether it’s amiibo, automatic time, same date in the system, different dates, TT or no TT to the next day — it can happen regardless. No one’s sure if there’s an actual cause (and what it is) or if it’s somehow random.

It 100% does not only apply to amiibo-forced villagers, my first glitch came from someone on belltree TTing out a villager, not forcing them with amiibo.

ah ok thanks guys this makes getting dreamies 10x harder because i only have like 6 amiibo cards
