That's a mouthful! A few new features to Animal Crossing: New Horizons were made public during the E3 presentation (trailer + Treehouse footage). I'm sure more features will be unveiled before the March 2020 launch, but let's just limit this exercise to the known features as of now.

What's the single most exciting new feature you're looking for in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Let me list a few :
  • New overhauled graphics and animations
  • More flexibility in clothes: different dresses types, suspenders, etc.
  • New skin tones
  • The deserted island concept where you are building a new village from scratch
  • The crafting mecanism
  • Starting out with only two villagers (only 2 animals bought into the Nook Getaway Package with you)
  • Scattering stuff all over the island (and not just in your home and in the museum)
  • Building your house on the beach
  • A new ''trowel'' tool to build paths
  • The new vaulting pole tool to cross rivers
  • A southern hemisphere calendar
  • Digging up trees
  • Villagers can now where dresses, and long sleeved clothes
  • Local 2 players coop mode
  • Up to 8 players can now reside on one island?

On my end, I'd say the most exciting thing is having only 2 villagers starting out with me on this Nook Getaway Package adventure. It makes this a more daunting experience, and I'm sure it will foster a strong bond with these two starting animals I might have otherwise have not cared about.

they're adding in visual novel features?

sweet. time for multiple save files on the same town, and dead end flags, and event cgs, and side segments, and

I think for me it's knowing that I will be building the village from scratch. I really like the crafting aspect too because I enjoy that in the Harvest Moon games that I've played. So, it's nice to finally have it in AC.

This'll be interesting. :p

The path making tool option is exciting to me other than the obvious "placing furniture outside" feature. :D

The whole concept of building the Island from scratch.

I was skeptical after just seeing the trailer?thinking it might be more of a vacation-retreat than town experience?but am pretty excited now that we know it can shape up into a proper town over time. I?d honestly include starting with only two Animals into that concept; it?s the idea of being there from the beginning, growing the town and relationships step by step :3

I love everything about this game! I'm so pumped for this :D Although, I am a bit worried about the online connection, hopefully it isn't laggy (e.g. online multiplayer for super Mario maker 2 - sometimes, etc.) coz that would ruin the fun for me :/ Also, do we know if furniture can be moved in half tiles outside like inside houses for NH?

I am looking forward to new clothing ... I am thinking that the new swimsuits we can craft on Pocket Camp now are an indication of new clothing/attire for New Horizons ... I love my black and white one! It?s sooo Pennifer ❤️

It's definitely skin tones for me. I know it's small but it is going to feel great knowing I wouldn't have to go to the island for my skin color.

this feature excited me so much! it doesn't effect me primarily but its a feature that animal crossing should've had in the beginning, or should've included with the welcome amiibo update.

besides that, im super excited for new clothes!! making my character look cute is my favorite part of animal crossing.
and overall, im really just super excited for hd graphics on the switch! its gonna look awesome.

aw man, where do i begin? there's so much i'm excited about just from the get go. i will say that i think that the town customization features are high up there for me. the things like laying down paths, and (i think??? am kinda speculating) uprooting trees to place them elsewhere, and villagers confirming with you where they should set up camp, and being able to place furniture items outside without PWPs!, all really excite me.

i was never really big into prettying up the outside of my town in older games, but with the new features going in, i think i am keen to start.

also, what you (OP) said about the two starting villagers and the "we're in this new thing together!" kind of bond we'll have with them makes me really happy too. it honestly almost gets me choked up. i love these games so much.

Outdoor furniture is the big one for me, and the path-making tool would be my next choice. And I'm wondering if the path-making tool also eliminates the "need" for grass wear, since the original point of it was to make natural paths where we walked.

I'm super pumped to be able to put furniture outside and around the island! I'm gonna have such a cute yard and I'll make my villagers have yards too :)

The skin tones for sure! I'm happy I'll be able to make my character the skintone I want her to be instead of relying on summer/the island to get her darker. The flexibility in clothing is also really exciting and I can't wait, I hope they add in some clothing from Pocket Camp, also the fact villagers can wear different clothing! There's honestly so much I'm excited for, like the ability to make paths and to place stuff outside :)

I am STOKED to design clothes. The fact that villagers can wear clothes that we design for them, and theres different styles for them now...Its something I've wanted for a long time and it really reminds me of how you can design clothes and dress up villagers in Tongari Boushi, which included different styles and accessories for them. We haven't seen it yet but I hope we can do the same in ACNH. I kind of assume it will be in the game because the dress up feature is present in both newest AC titles (PC, HHD), but who knows. This might not seem like a big deal, but it gives villagers more personality when they're wearing full outfits that match their style instead of a tank top. And I just want to knit my villagers cute sweaters damn it

100% the new skin tones! It's such an obvious addition but one that will be important and meaningful to so many people, and nothing can beat that <3

I'm so happy we can finally make our characters look like yourself from the get go. It always annoyed me that I had to look up an eye guide when starting a new town. The same goes waiting for Shampoodle to open her shop and then dealing with her questions.

it took me ages to unlock shampoodle in all my towns and it was so annoying. i wanted to take the town at my own pace and not rush the shop being unlocked, but my mayor looked weird with just brown hair and no hair style. i would usually just end up using someone's shampoodle from this website hahah.

Crafting. I usually don't like the mechanic but it's a perfect fit for AC. Pocket Camp was... fine... but I want to see what a bigger (and non-free to play) effort looks like
