What are some dumb purchases you made?

You reminded me about another of my wasteful purchases. I used to have a cat (unfortunately she passed away many years ago) and I bought this really cool, pagoda-shaped cat tree for her. It cost a couple hundred dollars. Did she use it? Of course not.

We still have it because I refuse to get rid of it in case we ever get another cat who just might like it. We store certain clothing and accessories on it right now. :p

Aw, so sorry for your loss. :(

I ended up buy a really expensive sisal and wood scratching post, but the cat won't use anything but my sofa. :(

Months ago, I bought "The Magic Book of Spells", a book which is based on the same named one that appears in the TV show Star vs the Forces of Evil. Thinking about it, this was actually a waste of money afterwards, not only did I look into it like two or three times in total, I also lost shortly after the purchase my interest in the show, thanks to it's miserable final episode. At least it's looks good in my shelf...

I bought the Animal Crossing DLC for Mario Kart on the Wii U, only to realize a few months later that I had a download code for it for free that came with my Wii U... I know that's only like 10 dollars, and I made this mistake years ago, but I still cringe when I think about it...

I remember some dumb purchases my parents made when I was a kid because I was begging for them
For instance, I remember one time I really wanted some container of plain yogurt for no reason (seriously) and I ended up hating it. Also when they bought cheese sticks just because Mario was on them

I've made lots and lots of dumb purchases: Buying both Pokemon versions of the same game, buying games based soley on the cool cover art, buying more seeds than I can plant for my indoor/outdoor garden, guilty of falling for the black friday trap of buying shoddy items you'll never use simply because it's at a reduced price, buying books at inflated prices.

I'd like to think I've improved on my spending habits over the years, but once in a while I still fall for some marketing lures.

This chipotle I just ordered. It's so expensive for me at the moment but I had a hankering. ._.

The biggest offender is league riot points... I've maybe sunk too much money into it. Granted, it's been mostly into skins I actually like. But the random loot chests are something I'll buy on occasion too.
I'm weak for the star guardian skins, so sue me.

Other than that, I'd say it would be the Persona 3 & 5 Endless Night pack. I bought it for the artbook and to play the Persona 4 rhythm game on the PS4. Artbook wasn't great and I've played the games a grand total of... 5 times? Less than 10 and not even for long. Maybe 2 songs at a time before switching to a different game.
Waste of ?90 if you ask me.

I tried birthday cake flavored Froot Loops because it was about the only cereal on sale. Would not recommend. Missed out on the Frankenberry during Halloween as well.

WHUT? O_O

Birthday cake flavored fruit loops.

Americans get all the cool stuff.

They'll roll them out here in Australia around 2040.
After I'm dead, I just know it.

:sigh:

I want some! o_O

At PAX West 2016, they had a pop-up Pok?mon store that was insanely popular. I ran straight for the Pok?mon store the moment the doors opened for the day, and still waited in line for an hour to get in. By the time I got in, all of the coveted large plushies were gone (Bulbasaur, Charizard, etc.), and the only large plushies left were overpriced Wailords. I'd waited so long I refused to leave empty-handed, so I bought one.

I named it Regret, and donated it a few months later. I hope Regret's found a nice family who loves him. :)

I bought myself snow boots when my mom was dropping heavy hints she was. I got the better deal tho

Also whoever posted about FEH I def. regret spending on that. Crappy IV based gacha game where you need characters to play makes it even worse. So yeah big regrets.

Tbh I think everything I buy for myself is on some level of dumb. I'm quite the impulsive buyer and if I didn't spend almost all of my money, I'd have a couple grand.

3 subscriptions to world of warcraft that i didn't play once and that i forgot to cancel : )

I usually don't have any spare money so I'm careful about spending it but once I bought a paper lantern that didn't work one second.

I bought pokemon lets go because it was cheap even though I never really wanted to play it so it has been sitting there for months unopened... maybe one day I'll get to it.

I was trying to recall if there was and yes I remember I have!
Pocket wifi router thing, because the bf at the time in long distance told me something that he needs it to not lose the internet to talk to me after disappearing so many times, saying his house wifi was cut by family when the truth was, that he was ignoring me on purpose to do some porn play with some old weirdo lady.
There are more though. Like, sooooo very expensive rare book the author of JBA drew etc. for his bday years ago. Haaaagh… It's still in my closet unwrapped with no use. It was pretty much nothing but the waste. -_-

I bought blue hairdye, whilee I just told myself to never put blue into my hair again, as it's sooo hard to get rid of it.
Now it's standing there and I am everyday tempted to put it into my hair.. <.<

First dumb purchase I made when I was in middle school, went to a theatre to watch a documentary, and bought a “large” popcorn for $10. That “large” looked more like a medium in other places and I felt like I was ripped off.
