What are some dumb purchases you made?

Also the classic, a lot of games on Steam I never played or just for a few minutes to get cards for badges (and some from their Marketplace to get badges as well lolol).

Definitely the amount of chips, juice and candy I bought from the vending machine in my first year of college. I swear I bought something every class. Just what was wrong with me lmao.

My most shameful purchases.... 100 dollars on Clash of Clans like 5 years ago and 50 dollars on this other phone game. Regrets!

I remember buying an Ariana Grande hoodie for $37 on Etsy... only to find it 8 months later for $8 on Aliexpress... thankfully enough it was my mom's money, and she knows nothing of this.

First dumb purchase I made when I was in middle school, went to a theatre to watch a documentary, and bought a ?large? popcorn for $10. That ?large? looked more like a medium in other places and I felt like I was ripped off.

Feels bad man:( Movie theatres always rip you off:mad: One thing, I can at least somewhat agree with is the loyalty shirt and/or loyalty cup, but only if you see movies enough throughout the year.

Anyway, I spent over $500 once on virtual Hearthstone card packs. Needless to say, that was the straw that made me hate micro transactions. I play mobile games exclusively for free now, for the most part.

when i was 13 or 14 i spent $40 on the ingame paid currency of a mobile game called moe can change...... i lost the account when i got a new phone and they couldn't give me back my old acct so i had to start over :( i barely play now anyways

i honestly don't get people who spend money on that game and are older than 18 cuz you get such a SMALL amount of the currency unless you buy an unreasonable amount of it, also it's just a glorified risque gacha anime dressup game (the outfit variety+gacha systems are part of the reason i don't play as much anymore..... -_-) like most paid currency gacha stuff it's pretty scummy and not at all worth giving money to

Oh my god I remember Moe Can Change!!

I agree. Spending money on microtransactions seems so silly to me now but you really can get the strong urge if you get into a game enough.

pre-ordering a whole lotta nendoroids because i wanted the thrill of buying stuff (it was a really tough time for me, dun judge huhu) =u= i mean i was able to cancel em, but the downpayments are non-refundable.... so i just lost around $60 for nothing

but that's better than pushing through with the orders and paying more than like $200

Oh yeah I was in that figure/game/nendo phase some years ago that weren't my best time and I spent way too much on dusty figures -u- Luckily I was able to cancel a few that I shouldn't have bought anyway but I guess I had the money and it sent me joy at that time...

More videogames than I had the time to actually play. My Steam library alone is probably more than a single lifetime's worth.

Over the past year I've consciously reduced how much time I spend seeking out videogames news, I sold off most of my physical collection, and I very rarely make purchases now... and almost never on day one.

Animal Crossing NH will be my first and likely only day-one purchase this year, and that's only because the sense of discovery before the game has been FAQ'd and all the surprises/progressions optimised to hell and back by the community will be a big part of the appeal - especially experiencing it fresh for the first time with the members of this forum.

Welp, I have made some purchases that I could have gone without making.

-dessert-y foods I buy at work to go with my lunch.
-maybe some craft supplies. If I looked harder or waited I could have saved a few dollars. But DAMN do I love glitter and mettalic pens. I also love markers.
-Stuffed animals that are only around for holidays like Christmas, Valentines ect... I love getting them from other people, but when I buy them for myself they end up not staying on my bed and get hidden in my closet, in an attempt to declutter my bedroom. I also can't get rid of alot of them, or even donate them. Alot have memories attached to them.
-I accidenly bought a lavender candle at Micheals when I already bought a lavender candle at WalMart. Two of them, I think, cause they were on sale.
-Also mobile game purchases. I've spent way too much on Pocket Camp, I don't even wanna look back on it.

The approximate $60 I spent on the free Pokemon Rumble World (can't even remember if that's what it's called) for the 3DS. I was determined to unlock all the worlds, so I spent every cent I got from my parents on that game. They got pretty annoyed with me. Looking back the game wasn't even that fun, definitely not $60 fun. I would say all the leaf tickets I've bought for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp were a waste of money, but the fact that I keep buying them seems to contradict that statement lmao.

Undertale- thank God I was able to get a refund on those 10 precious dollars.

I'm not going to count the $8 gem pack on a My Little Pony game I had when I was super little. I was so proud of myself back then. I had Celestia, dang it. lol

As a kid I spent about $45-50 on that Club Nintendo platinum reward Super Mario hat, I believe it was released around 2009. I wouldn't necessarily say it was a bad idea/purchase, but looking back now I could've bought the statue that came in a Question Mark Box (2010 platinum reward) for about the same price, and that looks way cooler than just a hat that can't even be worn. I don't even think the hat is worth that much these days, which really sucks. Might consider selling mine and getting the statue instead (though the statue may be rarer now since it's so old and CN is discontinued).

I also tend to buy things impulsively, especially if it's a good deal. I recenrly bought a shirt that was 50% off but it still costed me about $17. I really like the shirt but I feel bad about that. I haven't spent any of my money in a few weeks because I'm embarrassed about my impulsive behavior.

Oh and I can't forget purchases I've made on mobile games. I probably spent around $10-15 on Pocket Camp and I don't even play it anymore so that's money I'll never get back. I've prob sunk around $30 into Pokemon GO and even though I do still play that, I hate to think of all the money I didn't have to put into it. Now I only spend money on there if I absolutely need to.

I just preordered the Animal Crossing edition Switch. On the one hand, my husband will have his own Switch, and it'd be fun to play with him.

I used to spend a little too much on leaf tickets for pocket camp, it wasnt until they tried making me pay for the subscription, I realised what an absolute waste of money it was to spend real money on loot boxes that *might* have an item I want.

Minecraft Pixel sunglasses.. I mean, yeah I felt pretty damn cool with them, but nowadays i realize how bad they actually were
and extremelly uncomfortable and overpriced. :'D

Although personally I think the good outweighs the bad on this, others might find it dumb.

Buying old Pokemon games retail at full price, or at convention prices (which are still extraordinarily high).
Personally, I like to buy physical copies right then and there, even if their price might be absurdly high. The love that I have for the Pokemon series makes me not really care to an extent about prices. I also tend to plan out the amount I'm willing to pay for a particular game before hand (especially at conventions). I only really impulse bought one game at a con and that was Pearl, but it was 20 bucks man... that's so cheap. I don't trust online sellers.

It's only really backfired once when I got a used copy of Heartgold at Gamestop that would freeze after every like 5-10 minutes. I was luckily able to trade it for a functional copy though.
