I need to vent, but not about any AC features, but about the complaints I've heard from others -_- What types of complaints have you guys heard about Animal Crossing that really urked you?

*This is not a thread to encourage arguments, but rather one to just vent frustrations.*

That time travelling and hacking is cheating and it ruins it for everyone and they should no longer be allowed to do it in the Switch version. I disagree. If that's what makes it fun for other people, then they shouldn't be judged for it. Btw, I don't do either of those things but I don't think those are fair things to say. What you do to your town is your choice. And as far as I'm concerned, time travelers and hackers often use their powers to help the community, not hurt it. There are region locked items I never would've gotten if it weren't for them. This game isn't competitive.. so why take it away from people?

"That is not how you play Animal Crossing."

Sort of stems off Arize's post. People are either going to play the game all the time or not; there is no "right way". They bought the game, they may play it how they want as long as they are not being malicious.

I don't like when people complain about time traveling or the amiibo cards. Some people like a slow grind, some people don't. It's not cheating either way. No one is forcing you to play the way you don't want to play, so get over it. The whole point of these games is to play the way you want to play, so stay out of everyone else's business when it comes to their play style.

Oh yeah, the amiibo cards. I don't get why people hate them so much cuz it "ruins the spirit of animal crossing" apparently. If it ruins your experience, don't use them. But someone else using them doesn't affect you...

Alright I have to share a complaint I've heard recently. Someone was complaining that they don't like the island and it bothers them because they're trying to COMPETE with their friends but it makes it too easy for people to get bells and they don't want to use glitches or TT, but apparently this EXPLOIT is a way to "cheat" thus making it unfair for them since they're competing with their friends for the best town.
In the end, they said they wanted beetles and sharks to spawn way less and sell for way less.

Here's what I think:
The AC devs didn't put beetles and sharks on an island for the sole purpose of people getting money easier, it's just a natural part of the game. Beetles and sharks are summer-specific creatures, spawn at night, and are more rare than the usual sea bass. Of course they'll sell for a lot more! AC is not a competitive game either, I recommend another game if you and your friends' want to compete with each other without exploits. Oh wait, there are exploits in all games.

I'M SORRY I'M SO BUTTHURT AND DEFENSIVE OVER ANIMAL CROSSING.

Ikr! Some people have full-time jobs and don't have the time to spend hours a day on AC, so TT and amiibo cards are just a way for those people to get the most out of their beloved town >3<

As a time traveler, I find it annoying when people say that TTing is cheating. *breathes in*

It's not cheating if the game allows it. From the very begining of AC, TTing was and has been allowed to this day. There is no angry mole telling you that you can't do that, there is no blue cat who says 'hey buddy that date isn't correct', there is no fluffy Secretary saying 'ey yo mayor you can't just change the day like that.' Animal Crossing allows you to TT, and if you don't like it, tough. Don't do it then, but don't condemn others saying what they are doing is wrong.

I've come across a few.

- An ex once told me that Animal Crossing was so childish, and couldn't see anyone past 5 playing it. We wasn't even together for a month, and he didn't know I played it.

- There's nothing to do/it's boring.
Every game has its own pace and idea on what it is. Just because it isn't your type of game, doesn't make it bad.

- Unorganized towns or towns without a theme or aesthetic aren't "fun"
Not everyone wants to do a theme or go off of your idea of an aesthetic. Let people play how they want, and leave them alone.

Ah yes, the "Animal Crossing is for children" argument. You truly dodged a bullet with your ex.

The complaint about time traveling being "bad" and "ruins other people's games/the game in general". I've heard this so many times and I don't understand how this should affect other people's games. I mean, I spent my money on this and so I would like to play it my way. Time traveling isn't at all something which would ruin or affect others at any point, if it affects anything then your own game play, but you don't hurt anyone by changing the time at all. And if some people have more fun by doing time traveling rather then playing in "normal time", then why not just accept this? Nobody forcing someone to time travel, just play the game in the way you would like to play it. If you don't like it, just ignore it and moving on. No need to go ahead and say "let's remove the clock in the next game because it's bad, mimimimi". I swear, people sometimes acting like it's too hard to just let play someone their game in their own way without starting a big drama out of it...

Honestly, if they got rid of the clock to prevent time traveling, I wouldn't play nearly as often. I like time traveling because I can get really board easily and it gives me something new to do every day instead of waiting around in real time. I understand why some people don't like it, but I feel like if they got rid of it entirely, they'd be alienating a lot of the fan base.

I agree. Not everyone has a theme for their town. Some people just like to play for fun and not to obsess over perfect towns or anything. That's how I like to play it and it's never bothered me one bit. :)

Ugh, see the thing is, I have nothing against TTing and hacking, I just wish it wasn’t possible. Same with how easy it is to buy villagers and things like that. I just bought my dreamie and I obviously have no issue with that. I wish we were forced to play the game “right” aka follow the clock time and not buy our dreamies and 600 cedar trees online hehe, although like I said, I do this and will continue to, its more of an issue I have with the game itself.

To answer the question better, I don’t like hearing people say that they want to be able to move rocks or place villager homes in specific spots, etc. I agree that this would be very convenient, but I think the randomness of AC gives it its charm. If I could move rocks or houses, I would, but I’m glad I can’t. Like I always say, it’s not The Sims.
End rant :p

Augh! I?m so sorry to hear someone said that to you!!
I hate that people see this game for younger people. I?m 27 years old and I love playing the game because of nostalgia for me. I?m pretty lucky though because my partner plays video games too and understands why I love them so much.

I don't like hearing that some people have been told that Animal Crossing is only for children. It's not right to make someone feel ashamed for enjoying something they like. Everybody should be able to enjoy whatever hobby they like without being called out like this. I, myself, am almost 40 years old and I still enjoy playing Animal Crossing. I will always be a child at heart and there's nothing wrong with that.

Before I knew what Animal Crossing was, I was surprised at how many adults liked it since I thought it looked like a very childish game. However, I never thought any less of those people and I also didn't judge them for liking it. I just didn't understand the appeal and I didn't think I, myself, would ever like such a game. But look where I am. LOL. But yeah. There is a way to not understand the appeal of something and still not judge and shame people for it. Just because you don't understand why people like a certain thing doesn't mean that you get to tell them it's wrong. It frustrates me too. If you don't understand it, then research, ask them why they like it. Don't just criticise. Because you never know if it will be something you fall in love with too, like I did!

That time traveling is somehow considered cheating, while hacking is not. Hacking is literally the act of someone breaking into the game code via unauthorized third party devices to achieve things that you either cannot do in-game or without first putting in some amount of legit work first, i.e: Helping Jingle on Toy Day by learning what the villagers want beforehand.

Time travel isn't cheating. Hacking is.

The most annoying complaint I've heard about AC... is probably that people who hack AC and sell those hacked items for real money are bad people.

I just gotta say this; we all have to do things we have to do to make money. Like, be grateful they're not doing anything dangerous, like selling drugs or anything else like that. :v

It really gets on my nerves because everyone is human, we all make mistakes. The people who hack Animal Crossing and sell those items for real money aren't exactly bad people; just very desperate to make a living. Just like the rest of us ;w;

I see hacked towns as just being a piece of artwork. I love those beautiful screenshots of hacked towns, and I definitely don’t see it as “cheating”. I personally like playing the game authentically and find non-hacked towns far more impressive simply due to the time inverstment required, but hacking towns seems like a lot of fun and allows for so much expression, idk how anyone can be mad about that.
