I will use my houses in NL for....
1. Mansion (Main Character)
2. Casino
3. Mall (Includes Boutique, 7-11, and Cafe)
4. Apartments

What about you?

My main character's house will be how I would design a house to suit my own tastes.

I'm thinking my other characters will be based on my animal OCs, so I would decorate their houses with furniture they would have in their houses in my story.

I don't think I'm gonna use my extra characters. Using the extra characters for yourself, probably isn't the way Nintendo wanted you to use them :p

I'm going to use 1 or 2 of them as part of a small campground in my town. And keep their houses at the tent stage next to a campfire and the villager campsite public works.

My other houses might be used by my sister or my flatmate, though I don't imagine either of them will play very much. (or get the chance xP)

1. My house
2. All special themes(That are not in my house)
3. Storing any valuables
4. Another regular house

I'm going to have 1 girl who will be devoted to storage, and she will remain in her tent, I assume. However, I will also make 1 boy that I will play once my main character's house is filled up.

Item storage when my main runs out of room, just keep completing the sets I want.
But not for a VERY long time in my game. If and when I make other characters, their houses will also expand.

I think the second and maybe third characters are perfect for storing all your special theme sets. just the closet space is valuable, and their pattern spaces. But if you upgrade their home then you can display all the holiday sets you acquire.

I could never use my other characters for storage. xD It'd be too annoying to have to switch to them every time I wanted to get something and use it in my main house.

1. My main character
2. Pattern holder
3. Tent stub for where I would want the cafe
4. Tent stub around the campsite for my camping section (#3 will be used that way as well after I build the cafe)

They all will be turnip holders as well

Oh, and of course this way we can get multiple DLC items and eventually pictures on April fools for trading purposes. :D Though item holding/showcasing can now be done at the museum unless you want it seen via dream suite.

Patterns, of course.

And to make a little "neighborhood" out of them. I am going to make two of them after my cats and decorate it according to their personalities because I think it's fun, however silly it may be.

But using them as a placeholder for another building is a great idea too.

for pattern holding. like someone else said, i'll keep them in a tent and make a little camp ground when i unlock the campsite.

That's an interesting assumption. May I ask why you think Nintendo chose to allow you to have multiple characters with their own individual houses (incentive to play more than just one character, if you ask me) in a game developed for a personal handheld game system?

Not trying to sound confrontational at all, I really am just curious as to why you think it might be something they frown upon, which is the vibe I got from your post. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :)

I think there's plenty of reasons to create more than one character for your personal use. Even beyond item and pattern storage - you have four character slots at your disposal, which means four entire houses to decorate and upgrade (which means you can utilize many of the great furniture sets in NL), as well as four seperate characters you can customize with eye and hair color, hair styles, accessories, and outfits to suit your taste. For someone like me, who loves customization and variety, it's a dream come true!

I'll think I'll have a night club type house, a Nintendo house and a storage house. This might change though.

I probably won't be making the other three characters, unless I have nothing better to do after making a lot of progress in the game. Like after I've fully upgraded and furnished my mayor's house, done a lot of community projects, gotten all the shops, captured most of the bugs and fish, etc.

I won't make my other characters straight away either. After I make some big progress, I will made the first extra one. :)
